Hi guys,
Hopefully someone can give me an answer to this question reasonably quickly...does anyone know the current situation with tourists and coffeeshops in Roermond. I'm here for a couple of days on business and I'd love to sit in a coffeeshop and have a quiet smoke of an evening but I know there had been some issues with the "weed pass" and non-Dutch nationals recently. I also know, from some Googling, that the pass has all but been abolished mostly but what are the chances of me being served in a coffeeshop in Roermond? I'm thinking specifically Coffeeshop Skunk as it seems to be relatively close to my hotel.
Cheers.

The Shops in Roermond sell to tourists... but the quality is poor... take a good look on the weed before you buy

Is hash a better option? Do they sell quality hash in the coffeeshops and is the selection good enough?Marok21 wrote:The Shops in Roermond sell to tourists... but the quality is poor... take a good look on the weed before you buy

Went to Skunk as it was like a 3 minute walk from my hotel. Not very impressed at all. The weed was poor quality and the atmosphere was very odd...it was full of dodgy characters and not what I've come to expect from coffeeshops. I'll certainly not be back!

Would love you to elaborate on the scene in the coffee shop.big_hard_lad wrote:Went to Skunk as it was like a 3 minute walk from my hotel. Not very impressed at all. Firstly, it has a very "stop and go" feel. You take a number like in a deli or something, then you enter and wait for your number to be displayed on a screen. You then go up to one of three counters that are behind glass and ask for what you want. You get it and you pay by inserting money into a machine. The machine then gives your change too. It also has 2 big security guards on the front door and a bloke stood behind the bud tenders who looks pretty scary.
The shop was FULL of guys smoking who looked pretty angry and scary. They all looked of North African or Arab descent (no problem with this, but just to paint the picture) all whispering to each other in a language that I have no clue whatsoever what it was. They all looked me up and down quite a lot and it made me feel pretty uncomfortable. I should add that I'm not one for feeling particularly uncomfortable in any situation usually...no matter who I'm faced with. There are only 2 tables (maybe 8/10 seats) which were all occupied by these guys.
I walked past the shop again today and again it was full of these kind of guys, not the same ones but remarkably similar looking.
The bud itself wasn't terrible, not by UK standards anyway, but it certainly wasn't anywhere near the standard that I'm used to in Holland. Cheapest was €8.50 a gram (1 variety) then 4 or 5 varieties at €10.50 and 1 at €13.50. I went for a €10.50 called White Perl which tasted pretty gross and was very heavy to smoke. I rolled one joint stood at the side, smoked it really quickly and left.

Thanks man. That sounds like a really weird scene. I don't think I could tolerate that for long either.big_hard_lad wrote:Sure I can.treetop wrote:Would love you to elaborate on the scene in the coffee shop.big_hard_lad wrote:Went to Skunk as it was like a 3 minute walk from my hotel. Most of the time I've been the only white guy in the coffee shop I get on fine though. No problem. I know what you mean. Any frequent CS visitor in more far flung areas away from tourists with this hobby is going to run into this every now and again.
Those machines and bouncers are pretty ominous though. Like they've been robbed multiple times and violently in the past.
Maybe some weird laws in that locale mean they have to give the machines the money instead of a person?
They don't trust the staff?
Aliens?

Re: Roermond Coffeeshops and Tourists
for your Information: the coffeeshops skunk and sky in roermond, and Skunk and relax in sittard-geleen belong now to the same owner who has some Kind of a small monopoly in that region. he is only selling shit to german customers who travel very frequently to that area. but i found a trick to get some good weed: there is always an exclusive strain on the menu. for example in roermond at skunk and sky - they have the same menu but if you look closer there is one strain that is only at one of the menus. last time it was cheese haze which was only avaliable at sky, and that is the strain you have to get. Forget the names of the other strains they are just imagined. one time i had Pepsi and the next time space and they were exactly the same (rubbish).
