27th High Times Cannabis Cup
Re: 27th High Times Cannabis Cup
Dont u guys feel like its about time u stop supporting this commercialised event once and 4 all, i understand the social bit but too pay alot of money just too go see some guys selling stuff to ya and some concerts in some small venue. Let them first start too make an real effort to make something good not just throw something together to steal your money, but put some love into it. Thats what i think anyway

Re: 27th High Times Cannabis Cup
It's the middle of September, and still no venue(?), just a dab session (fireworks display as well I'm sure).
Sadly, the writing has been on the wall for a few years, and it became legible with the first "medical cannabis cup" in the US.
The last few nails in the HTCC Amsterdam coffin have been the legalization in Colorado and Washington, and the continued legalizing of "medical" cannabis.
One only needs to look at the website, and note the other venues, and note their locations. See any outside the US, besides Amsterdam? http://www.cannabiscup.com/amsterdam
A bit of a scramble this late, and if they are able to pull it off, how well will it be organized? Not pissing on their "parade", simply stating that with less than 80 days until showtime, tickets aren't being sold at the moment, etc..., how are people supposed to respond, put their plans on hold until word comes from wherever/whomever?
Reminds me of a couple of times when I observed radio stations going through a change in programming after having been sold - the stations played a song from their new format, non stop, for about a week or so. Eventually the listeners of the old format stopped tuning in, and the transition was done, more or less. Note that there won't be any refunds... I wonder how long it will take HTCC Amsterdam organizers to realize that in this case, they might want to reconsider?
Over the years, I've observed an increasing number of stoners who moved away from attending the various events and activities (meaning not buying tickets), and using the time for social interaction. I crack a smile when thinking about the choice of the time of year to visit Amsterdam, for no other reason than to socialize. Works for me, but then again I'm not spending thousands of $$$$, with the possibility of having to cancel and forfeiting some or all of what had been prepaid.
Soon enough there won't be a HTCC Amsterdam, but will stoners continue their annual pilgrimage to Mokum in late November? Why not Spain? Much cheaper, much MUCH warmer, not to mention sunnier as well. So what if Spain doesn't have coffee shops, they do have cannabis clubs. Let's not forget that cannabis is tolerated (legal in a gray area sort of way) for personal consumption in ones home (growing as well).
I've lived in Europe, as an adult, for a better part of 17 years, and with the exception of seasonal events/activities (Germany's Christmas Markets/Fairs, skiing), there's no sound reason to visit Northern Europe in the late Fall/Winter/early Spring. The weather is abysmal most of the time, and for those living outside the EU, expensive. Want a cheaper time of the year, with better weather - March/April and September/October, the swing months.
Just a few thoughts and opinions, not meant to offend or instigate negative responses.
Peace...

Re: 27th High Times Cannabis Cup
after last years expo and getting searched on the way in and them actually weighing out your stash and if it was over 5g they stole the extra. Also plain clothes police where watching the booths and any who gave out bud samples/vap's/bong hits out where also shut down .
I thought this was a Cannabis cup expo?...i miss the old days.
