I've been laughing so much reading this that I had to come and confess I have *no* recollection of coming in at Utopia and trying to explain the situation :D I'm really glad if I did, since I was quite embarrassed, thinking we'd just fled the scene. Thinking back, it was quite hilarious, just a bit too much for a first timer  But imagine us finding a "safe spot" and then someone mooning us... Fear and Loathing in Amsterdam! Next time, I'll know to just stay put or come inside.

But Amsterdam has a place in my heart now, awesome experiences had, especially Sclerotia Hollandia. Did hit me quick and quite hard, in a good way :)
Good to see you here too. :) Nothing to worry about, all went well back there. Nobody lost an arm or got in trouble. Besides, there really is nothing much to fear, everybody just need to remember how to behave. Just because Dutch have tolerant policy about weed, it doesn't mean there is some weird anarchy going on and ppl do what they want. While it's holiday for tourists, ppl there live their daily lives. People are mostly very kind and understanding, although there can be found some Dutch attitude with pretty blunt and witty humor, but like I said, all went well. Whiteys happen for people unaware of their limits and unless you fall head first into a pavement, whiteys aren't dangerous. Yes, embarrassing maybe, but it's nothing that people haven't seen there. Still I don't encourage anyone to get so blasted that one goes pale white, but it's not the end of the world.. Talking about weird stuff that they've seen, funny and weird story here, an incident that happened (at HGF) to one of (now ex-)budtender that served at Utopia: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=285&start=1290#p355316

I had a great time, I hope it won't be too long before I can visit again :) Didn't get to experience too much of the coffeeshop culture, since I got a sore throat (as in I was getting a cold, and smoking didn't help) in the last days. Also I maybe got overly cautious for a couple of days after the freak out, which, in hindsight, is a shame. But smoking at the flat and the shrooms made up for that, and it was my plan to do some tourist stuff too anyway :)

The fact that I knew not everyone there approves, and the fear that I would seem like a typical, annoying tourist probably made me most nervous that first day. But all's fine. Also, hubbie and me haven't been smoking an awful lot (or very good stuff) before, so I don't blame him (or myself) for getting our estimates wrong :)
