Re: How busy & whats the Coffeeshop experience like in Janua
i hate January, but February i hate more. saying that coffeeshops seem happier to serve you and theres a good chance most coffeeshops will be empty or only a few people so you should have pick of best seats bongs and vapes on offer (woohoo). there were some other things but i have forgot them (dont smoke too early in the morning)..

I can't answer about January but I did visit in February 2013, and I'm heading back next month too.
As others have said its cold, really really cold. Personally I quite liked it. The coffee shops weren't quite as busy as other months, but there was still a steady flow of traffic, both locals and tourists.
I'm really looking forward to next month, keeping my fingers crossed for a bit of snow!

Amsterdam is beautiful when it snows.arkan wrote:I prefer it at this time of the year. Yes it is cold, thats why i take a coat and gloves with me. But i find the bt's are more laid back, more appreciative of the custom and dont feel as rushed when it is busy like in the summer.
And obviously the streets arent paved with Italian school girls and dawdling japanese tourists.
It can get damn cold though, i early february last year and it was 'taters out.
First trip of this year will be the first week of March and knowing how the 'winter' is going in the UK at the moment it will be sods law that will be when the snows fall.

I am with Decon ... too damned cold in January.
Went in February, too cold, too dark, virtually no outside time, not for me.
I am more concerned about the treatment you got. I have never been asked to buy cannabis to stay at a coffeeshop, maybe it's your choice of coffeeshop? If that's the case, there are SO MANY, surely a few will suit you?

I've been in all seasons, but last February convinced me to only visit from May-October in future. Even when it's only -5C, it feels more like -25 with the Siberian wind blowing, not very pleasant at all. If you just want to sit inside and smoke it doesn't make much difference, but I like to explore the city on foot, with regular smoke stops.
When it's 25C with a light breeze, Amsterdam is my favourite place on earth...
