Yup, I do this all the time. The ABV still has a lot of cannabanoids inside, can give surprisingly strong results!
The basic technique I use:
- Dump your ABV into a clean cooking pot
- Pour in enough warmed coconut oil until the ABV is submerged by a centimeter or so
- Add a few spoons of soy lecithin powder (this dramatically improves absorption, meaning you'll get more effects from the same amount)
- Blend everything with a hand-blender until the ABV is fine powder, this increases surface area for better absorption
- Cook on low heat for at least few hours (gentle simmer, not boiling!), stirring often. Some people cook for 8+ hours, but IMO this uses too much gas to be worthwhile. Its not worth spending an extra $20 on gas just to get that last 5% of cannabanoids out.
- Allow to cool
- Put into the freezer overnight
- Allow to defrost, then reheat the mixture for 30 mins or so, don't forget to stir
- Strain out plant material while oil is warm
- Allow to cool and solidify, then keep the finished "green oil" in the fridge
If you have a lot of time on your hands, or you're just a perfectionist, there are many ways to improve this basic technique. But I've found this gives me the results I want, without being a scientist about it
Its also possible to do a second cook with the same plant material. The oil won't be anywhere near as strong as the first batch, but it'll still have some effects. If you have plenty of spare weed lying around, don't bother with the second cook of course
