BTW, words do plenty of damage... just have a look at every conflict that has ever happened in our existence. Starts and ends with words, always has...
Close to 5 pages of mental flossing... hmm

Do you get where I'm going with this? Your comment regarding words starting conflicts holds no water as it was the actions which started the conflict not the posturing by our leaders leading up to the actions
Those actions didn't happen spontaneously. At some point, words were spoken that started it all...
...people talked, people planned, and people executed their talked about plans.
Even the lone gunman has/is/will be (partial assumption) motivated by the words that someone spoke, whether or not but usually that has led to the harm of others.
You gave examples of events that occurred because people talked, planned, and carried out those plans.
Whatever motivated these actors, the very beginnings started with words.
My view may seem extremely simplified, because it is that simple.
The complexities come later, as words manifest into actions... from before the Crusades to current day world conflicts at all levels, to interpersonal relationships (or a lack thereof).
Words, they've been motivating human existence since the first one that was uttered from the dark depths of caves. (poetic assumption)
Lastly, what started this conversation, if I may be so bold as to define these four pages as a conversation, were words.
Words that were used, from any rational perspective, to communicate a message without the intent nor expectation to incite... and yet here we are.
I am quite able and more than willing to continue this topic of conversation without feeling the need to humiliate, denigrate, or otherwise do harm with my words.
Let's see how this all plays out...
