From what I've read on a few sites, they're not allowed to advertise like in Ams so it's hard to get a ton of info online, but 20 euro per year seems to be the average from what I've seen.

Out of interest does the OP know where that menu shot was taken ? As in which city ?

First reason for price disparity I guess would be Amsterdam (and to a much smaller extent the rest of the Netherlands) has been seen as the cannabis destination of Europe (at some points the world I guess) as it's 'tolerated' coffeeshops, were a one of a kind (certainly on the scale). This means stoners from all over Europe (and the world) flocked (and of course still do) to Amsterdam, creating a huge amount of demand, prices were always going to go up over the years.

Secondly, the cannabis cafes in Spain, are not widely known to tourists (not on the scale of Amsterdam lets say), so people aren't travelling to Spain with the sole intention of getting high (as many do here). This relative lack of demand to Amsterdam, means it is understandable that prices would not be pushed up. If these cafes really take off, I would expect to see prices increasing as the tourist numbers do.

Also, across the rest of the Netherlands (hell even just outside of Central Amsterdam), prices tend to be much lower. Ok, I'm not saying they are as low as those you posted, but just looking at the difference between Central Amsterdam and not, shows the impact of tourism on bud prices.

Finally, taxation I guess. I don't really know a great deal about the tax implications of running a CS in Amsterdam, but I would guess (and based of the 36% someone on this thread quoted) it is pretty large. Combine with high rental prices (as previously mentioned by someone) all of this is going to result in higher priced bud. I don't know what the tax levels are in Spain (or if it is even taxed), but I would guess that it isn't as high by a long way (I imagine tourism increases would change all that).

I would love to see great bud available at many coffeeshops around the 5 euro mark, but in Amsterdam it just isn't going to happen, not until tourists have other established cannabis holiday destinations. I wonder how the Amsterdam economy would fare without (or with significantly less) drug tourism ?

Portugal might also provide some competition if they ever decide to let people sell pot in stores. Colorado prices are just as bad or worse than Ams, and you can't smoke in public, so that doesn't seem to be putting any pressure on shops in Ams to change the way things work. It seems to be the way it will be for the next while until something changes. If people will pay those prices, then shops will keep charging them unfortunately.
spain already has opened his doors to everyone , you just need a passport

a lot of spains CSC (canas social clubs) only permit Spanish residents .... I found one in Tenerife (The elephant. which was fantastic ... but has since been closed down) and 2 on Lanzarote that accept Non Spanish residents.... you just need to look around and ask the club for an invite when you find one
