Boom Chicago Canal Cruises
Boom Chicago Canal Cruises
We wanted to do a canal cruise but didn't want to get on one of those massive glassed in ships so we found Boom Chicago (Boomchicago.nl) and we had such a great time we did it twice! They use small electric boats that seat no more than 12 and they encourage a fun loose atmosphere, we brought 6 packs of beer and joints and had a great time! Others brought food (bread/wine/cheese etc). The boats are small so can go where the larger ones cannot, you get to see some things you won't on the larger boats and the guides were amazing and really into what they were doing. If you can, try and get in Jesses boat. He was a LOT of fun and made it really enjoyable.
If you do anything besides coffeeshops when you visit Amsterdam, this should be right up at the top of your list of things to do.
On my smartphone, when you go to the website it's not obvious they do canal cruises - scroll to the bottom and click on tickets, and on the next page you'll see the link for the small boat tours.

Why drink and drive when you can smoke and fly?

Was thinking of something like this when I return.ZBeebs wrote:We wanted to do a canal cruise but didn't want to get on one of those massive glassed in ships so we found Boom Chicago (Boomchicago.nl) and we had such a great time we did it twice! used to be the St Nicholas Boat Club did the boat thing and met at Boom
Since the government stopped them Boom now sponsors their own boat with actors as guides
I liked it when the real boat guys did it. But still way better than the big glass boats
Re: Boom Chicago Canal Cruises
Wish I'd known this back in April. The old St Nic boat was brilliant.
Actually I think I vaguely remember hearing about this before, maybe here, but ...
Next time.

There website wasn't working for me once I clicked on :
Boat Like a Local boat tours have started again! For information and bookings click here... doesn't work me.
I'd be really interested in doing this, would you be able to tell me the prices? Can you have a smoke or the boat?
cheers

Re: Boom Chicago Canal Cruises
Last season it was €16 and you can smoke but you have to sit at the back of the boat.
Are you stoned? Like a gravel road bitch, like a gravel road!

for Boom - just show up in the midmorning and sign up for the boat ride (usually they are filled and you have to look forward a day or two)
yes you can smoke, eat and drink. (we even smoked when there were children on the ride - the driver encouraged us to do it! of course we sat in the back while kids and families were in front) can not remember the price - but not exorbitant
Re: Boom Chicago Canal Cruises
Wow, thats not a bad price. I was into hiring a boat but for two of us it would cost about 80€ for 3 hours
but it just seems abit steep for me. If your in a group then its pretty reasonable though.

Cheers mate, shame about the boat club. Bullshit how they can get shut down like that.worldcitizen1723 wrote:http://www.amsterdamboatclub.com (as you can see they are out of business)Mike93 wrote:There website wasn't working for me once I clicked on :

Re: Boom Chicago Canal Cruises
I emailed Leslie last night as I also found that the link does not work. Here is the body of the reply I received this morning;
Informative response, but the first line is BS - the link doesn't even allow you to select dates. Looking forward to this nonethelessThe link isn't working because the schedule online doesn't go that far ahead. Online ticketsales are only available one week in advance. That doesn't mean though I can't book tickets for you. At this point we have availability for our tours on June 3, 4 and 5, at 15:00.
Some practical information about the tour:
· In a one hour and 45 minute tour, out boat tour takes you through all of Amsterdam's most beautiful canals. Since it's a small boat it can take you through all of the tiniest canals, where the big boys can't go.
· The boat can take a maximum of eleven people so there will be more people on board.
· We encourage you to bring food and drinks on board for a floating picnic!
· The tour is completely in English.
· Tickets are €17 per person and can be booked directly with me right now. I will then require credit card details as a guarantee to hold your tickets. Payment can then be settled on the boat.
· The meeting point for the tour is at our theater at Rozengracht 117 15 minutes prior to departure. Your tourguide meets you here and takes you to the boat at five minutes walking distance.
· Leave us with your mobile phone number as the tour might be rescheduled when the weather is bad. We have open boats after all.
Do you want me to book you a few seats, or will your purchase your tickets online a week in advance?
Looking forward to hearing from you again!
Re: Boom Chicago Canal Cruises
I'm not sure why you're having so much trouble, it works for me. Go to boomchicago.nl, then towards the bottom of the page is a paragraph of info, which ends with "First things first: Do you want to see a comedy show in our theater in Amsterdam or shall we create something together for you? Do you want to come see us or should we come to you? If you are looking for tickets, click here". Click where it says "Tickets, click here" and you will be taken to another page... which is https://m.ticketscript.com/channel/web2 ... anguage/nl
From that address you can click on "Boom Chicago small boat tours" and you will see the upcoming dates and purchase tickets. They only offer tickets about a week in advance I believe.

perhaps it is a Mac/Safari thing. cuz i tried again today just for the heck of it and got the error page when i tried to connect to the boat tickets. But of course with your direct link I could get to it.
so the first line in her response is not BS for everyone!…….just for some of us! : >
thanks for jumping in.
