Sunday 20th April 2014

The sun is shining again. Happy 4-20!!

Image
Al fresco breakfast at 'Amstelhaven', a nice place J found yesterday.

We catch a metro to Nieuwmarkt, then walk across the centre.

Image Image
As we pass the "old" Old Church I notice a sign on the door saying it's re-opening on Friday 17th May as a smoker-friendly joint.

Utopia

Image

Gapie has brought along Uncle Ron's balls.
Image Image
Oily balls - thanks Uncle Ron.

Image
I'm introduced to ZBeebs and wife and this bong.
In fact there are several new arrivals today including DRA, Rob_OG + S and Spliphy2.

Another great session in Utopia and I'm mashed again. A good start to 4-20 Day.

Next on the agenda is Prix d'Ami.
We make our way up to the top floor where one of the staff starts to treat us as some kind of VIPs.
He keeps saying that we're the judges.
Eventually we figure out that he thinks we're from IC Mag.
I'm too stoned to argue, or to exploit the blagging potential for that matter.

We have a smoke to salute our fallen heroes, particularly Cattales (this was her favourite coffeeshop) and Hestia's Larry, and then move on.

Continuing our quest to uphold tradition we stop in The Bottle (bar next door to 420) for a quick beer and pre-4:20 joint.

And so to 420.

I break out my stash of mini Easter eggs and pass them around (as it's also Easter Sunday) and we all start to skin up.

At the auspicious time giant joints appear from behind the bar.

Image

Image Image
The clock behind the bar gets hazy as the minute hand passes 4:20.

420 at 4:20 on 4/20 - tick (or should that be "check" as we're talking American dates).

Next stop Koningsplein.
We wander in that direction trying not to lose anyone along the way.
Twenty minutes later and we're in the target of the camera.

Image
Koningsplein Webcam

I've brought along my shirt - the one that Twichaldinho gave me a few years ago with a Scottish football team logo on the front and "ACD Webmaster" on the back.
I wave it frantically at the webcam as we all try to make ourselves obvious.
Ftcarer calls home to see if we're visible.

Image
As you can see, Banshee Beat, Ftcarer & 1st born, DRA and Bifton are so stoned that their heads have become blurred in this picture.
I figure that, as we were all posing in front of an internet webcam, nobody here is shy about being shown but, just to be on the safe side, I've blurred everyone else.

Let me know if you're happy to be un-blurred.

Just one more traditional destination to reach.

Nes

Image

Image
We have indeed landed.
Nice to see this picture from the coffeeshop days still on the wall.

Image
Muffins galore! Thanks DC.

Image
Looks like the back of the room is reserved for us.

Image
... but everyone is out front. We are spread around the front of the bar, in the porch and outside.

Muffins, spliffs, oily balls, beer.
It's all good!
This is the life.
DC has done us proud again and 4-20 is being celebrated in style.

Suitably wrecked we pop out for dinner and then back to the Nes to carry on some more.
Trashcanman announces that it's his last night and he's got loads of grass and hash to dispose of.
Despite a sterling effort, we can't manage to smoke all of it so he leaves some with me for 137 tomorrow.

In part 3 we'll see how the 4-20 survivors get on ...

Another great instalment!! Can't wait for the next! And I'm fine with being unblurred.

Also I forgot about Bifton's awesome Hawaiian shirt (that I had some weird African duplicate of  )

Nice report . Thanks for posting. Nice to see everyone having a nice traditiona 420. Like the shirt. 8) Shame to hear about t'nes. What do you think about Soundgarden as a replacement? Nothing against t'nes and the excellent DC but it seems like time is being called there and could be time to move on. I can think of no better place than Soundgarden with its spacious outdoor canalside smoking area and multiple pinball tables to name but a few of its attractions.

The new BT at Voyagers is not that new and his name is Andy and he is good people.

That picture outside of Utopia looks more like a person from either UK or eire who used to work at Hill St blues at the market and now also Utopia but it does not look like Ingi. Could be mistaken though.

Either way loving the report. 8)
How much did you produce?

Excellent report, Thanks Lem.

...You know, i only just noticed that stained glass windmill above the door at Utopia.... Amazing what you can miss when it's right under your nose(or above it).

Thanks again.

Thanks @Banshee Beat. One for un-blurring then. Anyone else while I'm here - @Ftcarer, @DRA, @Bifton?
@ Gapie -
@ DRA - video coming?
@ Occasional Bowl - great seeing you again. Thanks for coming.
@ Treetop - let's hope we don't have to move on from Nes. Sound Garden is great. I love it. Good coffeeshops nearby and everything. As a central meeting place, though, it has to be said that Batavia, next to Voyagers, is probably better qualified. We'll see what happens.
@ KeyMonCha -I hadn't noticed that before either. Here's a detail
