More precise: I'm not saying it doesn't work it's just not as effective as with decarboxylation at least in my case. There's a huge difference between using a solvent(see link) and just crumbling hash into a hot drink then. Latter one always gave long but pretty light and subtile effects. I'm pretty much into edibles and tried a lot. I'm with you when it comes to coffeeshop edibles on the other hand I strongly doubt most people on holiday are patient enough to not smoke before, during or after edibles to feel the effects(if edibles done right smoking can really fuck you up then, personally I like that. Of course tolerance dependent.). Nonetheless those edibles are mostly garbage. I totally see this popeye thing working you described here

Yes, the Popeye's concoction buckled me. I should have taken my own advice and waited longer before the second! I always look in the window to see if it's cooking; have not seen it since.

To All:
I must say if the edibles are crap in Amsterdam I will be in a pickle. The wife won't let me stop at too many coffee shops and I need a discrete way to enjoy during the tourist stuff.
Is it true that paradox is the best of the worst in the edible variety?

The status of edibles should be the last thing you need to be concerned with - the leash around your neck should be the first.
A suggestion to discretely enjoy tourist stuff while buzzed, smoke a fatty before you set off, and while underway, have a discrete looking pipe (size) at the ready. You are in Amsterdam, the aroma of cannabis is everywhere, so odor won't be a problem.
I'll say this about edibles - once you ingest, strap yourself in because you are not in control any longer. At least when smoking, one can stop and allow the effects to mellow out...not so with edibles. Also this nugget - edibles aren't tested in The Netherlands, so one never knows how much is ingested. Not intelligent at all...actually, kind of stupid when given even a moments consideration. But hey, the consumers are stoners...enough said.

A simple solution to that is to send her off on something that will be as fun for her, as getting high is fun for you. Send her here:

Wow this ain,t rocket science mud socks.I agree with ronnie loosen the lease.I,m not sure how long you been with your misses but it sounds like you keep secrets,RED ALERT you won't be fooling any one put yourself.Just buy a joint, they come in there own little plastic cantainer.Light take a couple hits put out, put back cantainer repeat.PS study,s say couples that smoke together stay together Have fun with that. alright gentleman enough about the inner workings of my marriage. Just going to Amsterdam was a compromise so I don't want to push my luck to much...
Sounds like the edibles can be a bit of a mystery. I know from my own batches using 7 g's of some decent nugs had a pretty good effect for a batch of brownies but without knowing how much they are using can make the dosage difficult. Thanks for all the responses.

Although reputable places do sell good edibles (or so i've been told), not knowing how much thc/cbd/ect... one is ingesting is taking a risk, and perhaps should be avoided.
It's one thing to test every crop of cannabis, quite an undertaking but possible (could be mandatory at some point), but not required. Food stuffs are tested on a daily basis, it's part of the process, and it's the law. So why are cannabis-infused edibles exempt from these laws, because they contain cannabis/hash? All edibles should be tested, no exceptions, not even stoner scooby snacks. I for one want to know what the manufacturers are adding to the mix, and how much.
Anyone have an allergy to nuts? Would you support regulations that required manufacturers to label all products that contained nuts, or that comes into or near contact with nuts? I would hope so...and this applies to many others that have allergic reactions to food stuffs. Cannabis edibles should be treated no differently, full stop.

My missus doesn't smoke and prefers edibles.
Told her about this way to do it and she's willing to give it a go but doesn't want to end up totally monged.

when you do canbana butter it takes 4 to 10 hours,to get out all the good bits,so you might as well eat the hash,because a couple of mins in milk{4% fat at best}just wont suck it out,it the bit that you drink,that will get you stoned.for good eddibles look to the usa,in the damyour just paying for a average cke and bettween 0.25 and 0.5g at best of unknown product

Nothing personal but all these,s threads on hash in shit ,Dairy fats ,chocolate milk.Every read Naked Lunch?Writer William S. Burroughs eat hash in Marrco for years.In all his writing I never heard he had to put it in dairy fat.When I was in high school would put couple grams crumpled on peanut butter,had some great afternoon,s.Forget about the other shit,better the hash better the buzz!
