I found the Old Quarter back in 2002. It was only my second visit and we arrived without a hotel around 8pm on a Friday night. After a lot of arsing about we came across this place. I think it cost us 30/35 euro each for a twin room. On that night we got room 41 which is a great room at the top of the house overlooking the canal and Damrak. From then on we always try get that room when in Amsterdam. No luck this time and from the minute we got there it was shit. Complete chaos at check in. Nobody seemed to know or care what was going on. We were waiting an hour to get in our room. Think they put an extra bed in a single and made us wait while they did it.

Finally get to the room to see this -

I don't know about any of you but I need to be able to smoke in my room in Amsterdam. It is the main reason we always try get this hotel. We have a skylight which is handy.

Over to the Green Place we go and greeted by this at the old church -

Maybe it was because it was Christmas Day but it felt eerie.

Nothing jumped out at me on the menu so looked at the OG Reekn, now 16 euro a gram. I find this stuff very strong so took 2 grams, my mate took 2 also.

Had a smoke there and did one for the road to De Dampkring, Handboogstraat.

2 grams of Harvestmen Punch a gram of Kosher Tangie and a gram of Sensabille..

From there over to Tweede Kamer to sample the Noor 2000 as recommended on here.

Kosher Tangie

Noor 2000, 2 grams.

My streak continues with de Dampkring. That Harvestmen Punch doesn't look like much but it was lovely. Strong pine yet fruity taste off it, almost like smoking sap from a tree at times, beautiful. Kosher Tangie was as you would expect, same with the sensabille. The Noor was very oily, suprised they gave it to me in a bag. My mate got a gram of Super Silver in Tweede Kamer but wasn't impressed with it and didn't like the guys serving in there. Had a bit of Dutch humor when I asked to see the Noor.

Back to Warmoesstraat for a few drinks before getting Chicken from somewhere and back to the hotel for a smoke up. Things seemed a little more rosie going by the church after that pick up

Nice report, what is your review about the Noor 2000? Is it as good as you expected?

Great report thanks for all your efforts. It's a shame to see the recent reports coming out of Amsterdam in regards to the heroin / cocaine and Superman pill stories.

I'm actually staying at the Old Quarter next week so I'm anxiously awaiting your up date as to what the smoking situation is like now :? . Always remember it being cool there before just the usual "don't set the fire alarm off" that most places seemed to have adopted.

Sorry lads, I've tried to finish this but work has been manic.

I liked it. Had it as my bedtime jib Christmas night, worked a treat. Lovely to work with, like an oily clay. Very strong tasting. But nothing like a purchase made later on in the trip 8)

The Harvestmen Punch was so peculiar to smoke but a big yes please with that stuff, loved it. It looked like crap but it was really tasty. 12 euro a gram, would certainly buy again. I will definitely catch you at some stage, buy you a pint for all those menus you posted.

We were staying across the street from the main hotel and there were signs up in the rooms and in the stairway. It was the main reason I always stayed there. We had a skylight so smoked out that to be on the safe side. The warnings re the dealing would be very off putting to some visitors I'm sure. Not good for business.

Some of the views from our room -

Wanted to try the Cookies Kush from Barneys but stopped at the Green Place first for more OG Reek'n. 6 grams in total over the 2 days. My mate also picked up a gram of the Amnesia 666 and I must say, when this stuff is good it's great. Best Amnesia I've had especially in terms of taste and smell. No pictures unfortunately.

No Cookies Kush so picked up a gram of the G13 Haze. Had some good G13 from Bij once so wanted to try this. Very nice, strong too. 15 euro a gram was a few bob more than I would have liked to have paid though.

Image

Bought a gram of TrainWreck from Dampkring 2. Bland at best, no picture.

Over to Hill Street Blues for a pint and a few jibs before heading back to the De Dampkring, Handboogstraat.

Image

De Dampkring is quickly becoming a favourite of mine. I got some Himalayan Gold

Image

Pot O'Gold

Image

and the Xmas prezzie for myself, a gram of the Simpsons Kush 35 euro a gram I think? J4T96..

Image

Simpsons Kush was beautiful. Just like smoking a Kush but very strong. Pricy but a fine smoke.

More drinks and jibs before heading to the station for the train.

Thanks man I really appreciate the report. Glad to hear you weren't troubled or even worse kicked out from the hotel for smoking. I will still take a stealthy approach haha.

I've been very keen to grab the Simpsons kush again this trip so glad to hear a good review, however, the piece of hash you pictured is far darker than I've seen it before. Not sure if it's the batch, storage or whatever but I thought it was named so due to the extremely bright yellow color? It's certainly had that Simpson-Esq shade to it whenever I've seen it.

Looking forward to the rest of the report dude.

The only thing online about it I can remember was from a video with the owner of the dampkring and I think the owner of paradox (ludo) talking about the Coffee shop rules and lifestyle. I'll try dig it up.

Otherwise whenever I've purchased it the block has always been very yellow in colour

I had never seen it before but the stuff we got was tasty, really kushy and very strong. That more yellow stuff in the video does look lovely.
