I am posting this here as Dam smokers maybe interested.

Spain.

I last visited the Barcelona area in September 2014. I booked the visit back in around May 2014 when the cannabis 'laws' were more relaxed with regards to the clubs. Prior to my visit the crackdown by the police had began and there is loads of info about this on the web.

Consequently the cannabis club that had previously agreed to accept me as a member for 20 Euros emailed me to say they could no longer admit me, citing the 15 days before you can smoke and not having a Spanish residential permit 'laws' being imposed by the police. There is no real government law regarding this, just recommendations made by the Catalonia governing body. It is a grey area but, of course, the police have the upper hand.

Fortunately during my visit and on the 2nd day I managed to hook up with an expat who got me well sorted with some good home grown and even some powerful Moroccan hash. It was nearly half the price of similar grade found in the Dam. Prior to this I looked in the usual areas and spoke to usual street dealers, but they all gave off rip off vibes and I would advise anyone to be very wary of those dudes.

So I had a great Spanish holiday, toking on the balcony and lazing by the pool with a lager and my sounds. It is so cheap there compared to other places. Eating out, bottles of good wine, cases of lager are so much cheaper than what I am use to back home.

Would I go back for a smoking holiday? No, only if I knew I could get hold of the contact I made. Spain, at present, seems to want to stop 'cannabis tourist', so its back to Mokum, Denver and other enlightened places for little old me.

sorry to hear that the clubs have this rule of 15 days. What club did you contact?

Hi Big D. It was the one we talked about before my visit. The AUC Costa Brava in Llorett de Mar. A lot of the clubs in the whole area are being very cautious.(I also stayed in the Hotel you recommended. Loved it. Got a double en suite for 2 weeks for about 200 sovs including breakfast. Paid almost 200 for one night in the Dam in the past.)

The whole situation at present is a shame. It is driving visitors back to the black market. But it would seem the straights in government prefer this than people using clubs and enjoying themselves! However, I hear through the grapevine that not all clubs in Spain are following the guidelines. This does mean though that you cannot guarantee a score.

Amsterdam for me is still the best city in the world for numerous reasons.
