Iphone App

Post by theginjaninja »

Anybody used an Iphone app where you can drop pins on a map of the city and basically custonise it to suit your needs.

I heard someone in another thread (think it was travelogues) mention they had one for Android that did something like that.

Planning on having my unlimited data roaming on while I'm there, so GPS not a problem.

Google Maps allows you to save/pin your locations. I have all of my must-see places saved in Google Maps. Gives turn-by-turn directions to any saved locations.

when you create a map on your PC, it says its saved to Google Drive.

Can you import that map onto the app?
Or is it best to just create any pins, etc whilst using the map.

Use this app called Pin Drop! I used it last time I went. Put loads of coffeeshops on there! Also put a load of restaurants and the location of the apartment I was staying in. Even better than that it gives you the option to write notes within each pin drop for example, I wrote the types of weed and prices under each coffeeshop.

Also, you can group each pin by 'Tags', so I've got Coffeeshops, Hotel // Information and Restaurant // Food. But seriously helped me out a lot when I was too stoned to try and find places with a map, just use the directions to feature and you can either use Apple Maps or Google Maps!

Hope this helps.

I just use the Google Maps app itself. Search for the address or name of the location and click "save." You'll end up with a map of Amsterdam that has "stars" marking each of your saved locations. Click on the star and you can navigate o that location or even get a 360 degree street view of the location.

Or you could try the PinDrop app as mentioned by KrazeUK

Yes that was on my iPhone so not too sure about Android you'll have to look into it.

Good luck!

I'm on Iphone as well.

The only pin drop app I could see was one that convert lat/long grid bearings etc.

What does the icon look like, any chance you can post a pic?
Was it a free app or did you have to pay for it?

I don't mind paying for it, if its good. :)

Ye sure mate this is the app icon

Once within the app, you should see a map that looks exactly like Apple Maps with a toolbar across the bottom saying Pins - Tags - Settings.

The app was free I believe

I can't bloomin well find it.

What category in the app store does it fall under?
Looked through the Navigation ones and can't find it.

There are some apps with similar icons, but none called Pin drop.

A quick search through Google has revealed some sad news! The app was taken off the app store at the end of 2014! Luckily for me I have it on my phone but you probably wont be able to get it anymore!

Sorry for the false hope lol!

Here is the article anyway:
