As most of you probably figured out by my recent resurfacing on the forums, I've been working on arranging another trip to Amsterdam. Just got confirmation last night and already booked, and it will be soon in fact. April 27 - May 4. Will try and setup at least one TnT while in town....

Super excited that after 7 trips I'll finally get to witness the national party that is koningdag...

For those that have been at this time before, are most coffeeshops open per usual on this day or do they just shut down to avoid the madness?

couple years ago we were there for the last queens day, paradox was open and with the window tint, people outside were using it as a looking glass, in side was just great people watching, in hind sight should of just stayed there, other shops were also opened but getting around in a human wave is trying at times. enjoy your trip.

Thanks for the tip Willjay, I'm a big fan of Paradox so I'll keep it in mind...

I know the city will be a madhouse on this day, one of the things I'm looking forward to seeing this time around.

You getting there early ? Hope you know be chaos from the night before still going on the real party is the night before on to the morning n day by early the party finishes (by 5-6pm ) starts getting boring n party ends !! Plus since holiday is on a Monday

I'm not sure but you should check if trains running from airport to ams ! Cause think was last year or 2012 no train were running on the holiday !!

I landed on queens day before,
1) travel light
2)no lockers at central station, closed off for security (terrorism) reasons
3)no trams or public transport in the central area
4)coffeeshops are open as usual
5)be ready for a party(all over town)
