2nd trip to Groningen with Girlfriend ( 13.02.16 - 13.02.16 )

our last trip to groningen was amazing i visited a lot of coffeshops and really want to visit them again.
I wonder how late the shops will open and where i can smoke my jay. We'll arrive at 9am and after breakfast we want to start

As you seem to be the person who's been there most recently, I suspect that you probably know more than anyone here. I'm planning to go in the spring, maybe, but that won't be of much use to you unless you've got a time machine.

Looking forward to your report, though. Are you really going for a day, or is that a stonertypo?

As FlyByNite thankfully already pointed out you can have a look at the directory from the main page here, Zustraffernewomer. His second link isn't that useful though as thekaart.nl often lists shops not existing anymore, as in that case sadly The Glory(I heard good things of before)and De Vis.
See, as you once said you're not that familiar with the forums and my philosophy is taking the laws into one's hand you should look at the mostly up to date directory regarding opening times(sometimes shitty google maps is useful for that, too). Any chance you missed my coffeeshop guide for Groningen, viewtopic.php?f=10&t=31514&p=389302#p389302 ?

De Medley is opened from 9AM but I don't know about the quality there, it's take-away-only anyway. I'd advise you to go to The Clown as I've seen you didn't review this shop and it's a nice one. As said De Dees seem to be open until 3AM on weekends, most shops close between 22PM and midnight.

I too assumed you've been to Groningen numerous times but perhaps you're about going there for the second time together with your girlfriend?! If it's a day trip I'd suggest going to The Clown, Taverne Oasis(a must), Retro(popular with the locals) and De Dees. Skip the rest as you don't miss anything.

hey buds
i was in groningen a few times, but mostly with friends and only for De Dees ( its our fav. chill n buy shop ).
Im going to visit the following shops and ofc i will review them after
UPPER 10, THE CLOWN , DE DEES, DRIE MASTER , THE HAPPY, METAMORPHOSE , RETRO, TAVERNE OASIS, Reykjavik

We will arrive at 9am and stay till 6pm or so.
Thanks Jess and FlyByNite for letting me know that some shops are ope at about 9 ( like de Vliegende Hollander and De Medley, maybe this will be our first stop. I saw that Reykjavik is also open at 10:00-00:00.
Im looking forward to collect all the openingtimes from the shops , maybe some of them arent updated and Lemming can update them on front page.

Also where is a nice SitnSmoke Place at the morning ? Me and my gf usually sit in De Dees.
And does somebody wants to meet n smoke some?

Back to square one then : just noticed your daytrip is a sunday so this means Taverne Oasis is closed(which I appreciate a lot when it comes to businesses as said).

For your information: The Happy as said has the same menu and owner as Upper 10 but only opens from 5PM in opposite to Upper 10 which is opened from 12 if memory serves me right. Metamorphose and The Clown definitely the same as Upper 10 on sundays. Retro anyway, too.
So your only option on a sunday is Reykjavik and De Medley, they're both pick-up-only though! Maybe De Dees and Drie Master which also belong to the same owner and have the same menu open earlier but not sure on that one.

Again I would suggest going to The Clown first for sitting down, then Retro and maybe those others you mentioned. Personally I think you listed a lot of shops for one day, especially since you're with your girl friend. From personal experiencies I know that other people coming with me on travels often don't enjoy much rushing through a lot of shops in a short time, especially since it looks like a laid back sunday but that's up to you of course as everyone is different !

Maybe you can go on a saturday instead for an overnighter and enjoy Taverne Oasis? By the way you can send Lemming an Email regarding change of opening times(including those you know). Anyway, enjoy your trip !

the 13.2 is a Saturday not a Sunday. Any chance that i can visit Taverne aswell then :p ?
We decided ( after checking the openingtimes of The Clown ) that we will visit The Clown after breakfast at first to like u said sit down and chill and maybe decide where to go next. Clown will open Mon-Sat 10:00-22:00; Sun 12:00-21:00 if these times are up2date.
The rushing of the shops is not really a problem, we will arrive at 9.00 and like u know we already checked out some shops before at 29.12.15
And if theres no time for every shop its also no problem. But some are just a must.
For me its important for the wake n bake cus i smoke everyday and dont want to wait till 13.00 for the first jay ( usually i smoke bong but its hard for germans to travel through the border with a bong )

But as i said before if the Clowns opening times are up2date we will hang out there at first.

How embarrassing, Zustraffernewcomer, I'm sorry! You know what I mixed up March with February(I'm cursed with being ahead of my time, bitter fate I can tell you !). On the other hand everything you asked for was answered with my first post .

By the way I can relate as I want to smoke as soon as possible, too(not smoking every day though, more an occassional thing but each to their own). Last years I got my shit together and only smoked in the first coffeeshop to get smashed but before that I often consumed before I went on a trip. I was only about a lot of people don't like running from shop to shop and prefer taking it easy(mostly women but also a few mates, no offence intended) which I can understand to some point but when it comes to places I haven't been before I prefer to see as many as possible if only in town for a couple of days as I can figure out in most cases which shop is good or not, matter of experience. There is often enough time to return there while picking up stuff elsewhere before .

Don't worry about the opening times of the Clown as it was me who provided them when I went in December(looked up my notes so quote me on that one !). After that I'd go straight to Taverne as it can get busy later on, they have some kind of special on weekends like 3 bags(5€) for 12,50€ instead of 15€(immense discount I know ).
