What willl be happening in Amsterdam on 4/20 this year?
Do any special events take place or is just a time when the city and coffeeshops are very busy? I understand the ACD, Channels and EDIT forums are having meet ups and CS crawls.
I know Queensday is the big party in town but just wondering if 4/20 was especially worth going for?

The 4-20 thing is an American-based weed celebration, first established in the 1970s by some high school kids in California, though the scope has widened over the years through increased publicity in canna-media, and Internet forums like these. But my understanding is that you won't notice anything different in the coffeeshop scene from any other day, as you might during Queen's Day or Cannabis Cup.
International Cannagraphic has an IC Mag 420 Cup, but participation is expensive, and it seems to be an increasingly polarized and politicized operation (as is Cannabis Cup, by all accounts).
It's really a time for Americans to light up nationwide, and for people in this forum, and others like it, to toke up together whenever and wherever they can.
If that happens to be Amsterdam, so much the better!

thanks for the response, i have three weeks available in april but have to be back at work on the 22nd so I think I will look to make the trip as late as possible (april 17-21). I won't go expecting too much of 4/20, but as you say Amsterdam is as good a place as any to be

I think if you look at the 420 thread you will find that between here and VDF we have a lot of things planned.

That’s about right, 20th April is nothing like “Queensday”. Queensday is a massive party when the town will be very crowded and orange. The 20th is *our* special day. There aren’t enough of us to make a noticeable difference to the population of the city so the hotels won’t be any more expensive than any other weekend. Lots of Americans are making the long trip over for the 20th where they will meet up with each other and a few of us Europeans for a big social. Come and join us, it’ll be fun!

Hell yeah, since you're going to Amsterdam anyway, if you meet up with this group, you definitely will notice a difference -- you'll have a bunch more people to hang out with!
