Right.....
I have been twice to the dam and each time i have had an expectidly fantastic time!
This time round I need to show her lots of the sights of the dam...
I want to show her the red light district, she wants to see the anne frank house.
Apart from that i have no idea on what to do to be honest...
she has just started to have a smoke here and there so the c/shops will be a good one but not all the trip, we aint really go for nice walks around the nice pretty sights people or are we lets go to the museum to look at the last 1000 years of blah blah blah.
I need to get an action plan of what we can do as a couple apart from getting ratted all weekend and without the boring same old "go for a walk" routine...
I know i am being a bit picky on this one, but i really want her to see the dam in all its glory, what is the shopping side of the dam like??
Please someone give me some idea's as i would love to spend 5 days over there and as it stands its looking like a long weekend with not a lot to do...
PLEASE HELP....??????

Chil my brother. Well it really depends... The Red Light District doesn't need explanation.
Coffeeshops sound like they could be explored for days.
Personally, when I go to any city, no matter where it is, I like to visit usually two things: museums and zoos. Any zoo rocks, and what I hear Artis Zoo in Amsterdam is pretty cool. There is no question museums are everywhere in this city.
You can spend a day going to surrounding cities like Haarlem.
Do yourself a favor, search Amsterdam Travel guide on Google and use those results and also go out and buy a Amsterdam specific guide (from Amazon if you can't find any locally). Every bookstore ive ever been to has plenty of Amsterdam specific books.

Travel guides and stuff is a really good idea, they usually have a nice range of different sites. But it might be easier if we knew just a tad more of your interests mate, would you enjoy art museum, or are you more on the historical side? Would you enjoy a walk in Vondel park? Do you like live music (there are some really good places for a tune in the city, The Last Waterhole @ Leidseplein is a must visit IMO)?
As mentioned b4, taking a daytrip out to Haarlem (which is about 15 mins. by train, and 7 €s for the roundtrip) is more than worth it, it is an amazing little city and I understand that the shopping shouldn’t be all bad out there either…
Also, if your interested in the Anne Frank house you might be interested in the Jewish museum.

yeah, shopping for sure. go to
http://www.kitschkitchen.nl/ , but i don´t know which kind of things your girl likes. in the jordaan area are many small cosy shops, like paul frank, carhardt or other clothing and many more....heading down to the rijksmuseum i remember some antique stores.
a friend mentioned to me that he has never seen so many shoe-stores like in amsterdam
have fun to explore

I'd do a canal trip by one of the firms, like Love. That comedy troupe -- Boom Chicago? - on Leidesplein used to do one, too. That might be worth taking in if it's up your alley -- it's all in english
I used to do the Circle Tram on occasion, a line that went in a semicircle around the town center, but I think it's discontinued
check out the flea markets, I don't ever buy much but I always like to go. I go thru the city & check out things on my journey
I like Waterlooplein flea market better than the larger Albert Cuyp Market, which is in all the guide books, but its all a matter of taste
The Waterlooplein is near the Rembrandt House & the Jewish Historical Museum, which is also worth a look, IMHO
Nieuwmarkt has a food market for herring, ollieballen (in season), etc., i think everyday. It's also near Chinatown, worth a wander, & the red light district
The Spui area has a 2-3 weekly markets set up -- books, postage stamps, art on different days
google anything of interest, stuff'll pop out of the woodwork

ur so educated cattales, i wish i had ur troll teachers
and i wish i had your fantastic powers of observation and could see thru the internet like you and tell the sex of ACD posters. then maybe i'd claim sexual harassment at the drop of a hat, rather than have to claim troll harassment (which is what it is).
since you're not interested in doing anything but dump all over an honest suggestion to an info request,
could you please fuck off troll, how much clearer do i need to be?
exchanging posts w/ trolls is an exercise in futility (completely futile exercise?)
