How do Tokes and Talks work?

Post by LLMReb »

I know a toke and talk is a chit-chat session. What I expressly mean is that if you arrange one, how do you know who is participating? I've never seen anyone describe themselves on this forum. I am not aware of a special hand signal, lapel button, etc.

So how have you guys arranged them? You walk into, say, Paradox, and you see a group of 3 at the back left table, 2 guys sitting on the bench outside, a group of 4 on the front left table, and a group of two on the back right table . . . but you hear there is a TNT going on. Oh man, you are stoned and see 4 distinct groups.

I guess the answer can be as simple as, "Are you here for the Toke and Talk, too? I'm just curious. Thanks!

You stand in the middle of the room and chant ACD ACD over and over for about a second or forever witch ever comes first, three of the groups will move away the fourth group laughing in the corner will wave you over, or you could set a map on the table roll one up and start the toke

Willjay, you must be the board comedian! I figured the most effective method was to bust up in a coffeeshop and be really obnoxious yelling ACD to and fro, but I was thinking a more subtle method might very well exist. I think I have the obnoxious, bull-in-china-shop method of yelling ACD covered. Any subtle suggestions, however, would provide an interesting read.

I'm not ruling your method out, but I think I would reserve it for a last resort method. Thanks, though.

As I see it a Toke & Talk is a win, win, win situation.

1. Nobody shows up. You have spent an hour in a coffeeshop of your choice.
This goes in my win column.

2. One or more people show up. You meet some new friends in a great atmosphere.
Yep, another win.

3. Everyone in town shows up and it turns into a coffeeshop crawl.
This might be the biggest win of all.

To ID yourself something as simple as a rolling paper with your user name
written on it and stuck to the front of your shirt/coat will work.As an after
thought, stuck to you forehead would really work.

Date, time, coffeeshop and I will post it on Whos In Town.
I print the Toke and Talk graphic at the top of a sheet of paper.
When I get where I'm going I fold it into a v shape and stand it on the
table or bar.
Use the bottom of the page to get folks to "sign in" and have yourself a
one of a kind souvenir.
And be able to post an accurate trip report.

Enjoy

Just placing an ACD map or logo somehwere on your table is usually enough to pull even the shyst ACDer our of the corner.
