Zandvoort/Dam July 8.-12.

Post by Sir-Smoke-a-lot »

Hi guys,
allready made a thread yesterday but i deleted it. Will be in Zandvoort and Dam next weekend from 8. to 12. July. I was in Dam only once and this was like 5 years ago. This time i will do it differently and inform myself before(at least i try ). Which are the so called tourist traps? Which coffeeshops do you prefer? Which is the best way to travel inside of Dam itself(no car)? Sorry for so many questions. But this time i don't want to do the same mistakes by don't inform in front of the trip. Thanks in advance and have a nice week.

S.

Hi... I too plan to be in Zandvoort in a few weeks, let's hope for nice weather...

I've been out there a few times and recommend a stop at Yanks coffeeshop, very cool place to grab a smoke. I also recommend taking the train and stopping off in Haarlem for a bit. Great little town to coffeshop hop and pick up some dinner....

Enjoy your holiday and be sure to update with a trip report!

Thanks for your reply. Yanks is also on my list. Also thanks for your haarlem recommendation. Do you know a nice cs there as well? Is their still a willy wortel? Heard they had a nice selection. But this was quite some time ago. Also checked out the coffeeshop menues here but the shops in haarlem haven't been updated a longer time.

Best way to travel within Dam itself is clearly by tram, or hired bike if you're feeling energetic. There's a GVB office directly outside Central Station where you can buy tram passes for however many days you are there, makes getting around so much easier and less sore on the feet.

Tourist traps are relatively frequent particularly in the centruum, but if you avoid anything Bulldog you've cut one lot out anyway. Good CS's include Voyagers, Utopia, Katsu, Club Media, Het Ballonnetje, Siberie, Paradox, De Graal... and others ofc but its hard to go wrong with those as a start.

Have a great trip :)

Welcome to the forum.

You have been posted on the July Whos In Town page. Scroll down toyour month and click it.
Scroll down to your month and click it.

You can see who else may be in town during your stay.

If you don't see yourself, click your refresh or reload button
Your browser sometimes loads pages from your local cache and
you don't get the latest update.

Watch for Toke & Talks, I post them up to the last minute.

Set yourself up with your own T&T or Toke and Talk, where you pick the coffeeshop
(your favorite) and the date and time, I will post it and you wait for folks to
show up, if they do you'll have a T&T. If they don't you still get to enjoy your
favorite coffeeshop!

By default I link your posting to your profile page here on ACD.

I can change it to a web link ( myspace, facebook, personal page )
or an email address if you want.

For Haarlem, here is a coffeeshop map - https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?mi ... LeOFeKW6Iw
My favorite Haarlem shop is Birdy, with WW Indica and Empire close second and third.

You can do a little practice shopping on the Coffeeshop Menus page.
Any with arrows are less than six months old.

Any nice new menu pictures you can get will be much appreciated.
Always ask first, better told no than thrown out.

Sure thing! For the CS in Haarlem, I strongly recommended a stop in Birdy. It's not far from the train station...

FBN, thanks! I'll be in town July 28 then again Aug 1 through Aug 3.

Thanks again. We were in the Birdy's and it was by far the most friendly cs we visited. Almost every BT in Dam was unfriendly (especially Dampkring). Yanks was also nice. Friendly staff and i liked the location. Too bad we're allready on the train home.
