Hello everyone, pretty new here! Coming over morning at the 22nd of September and leaving afternoon at the 28th.
Any weed-related or non-weed-related events at the time worth checking out if anyone knows? I can of course Google that but decided to ask here anyway in case people have had hands-on experiences.

If you have a smart phone with Google maps it makes life much easier mate. Most mobile service providers now have some sort of European package with x amount of data etc. Search for and save all the coffee shops on your hitlist and plan your itinerary around the map for different days. It does kinda take away the adventure of it all but it makes life easier if there's a string of cs' you must visit. Is quite nice to turn it off aswell and just get lost, which I do frequently.

And thanks im looking forward to the trip as much as any other times I've been. Sure you will have a great time too mate, there's a wealth of knowledge here in the forum for you to get through

Yeah I just checked with my internet provider and the standard rate for other EU countries is 0.16 euros per MB which is great. Also, according to the research I've done Google maps barely uses much data, so yay! I'm really digging the idea of turning it off and getting lost. Sounds like an adventure If I get truly lost then I can just turn it on again!

If you download the Amsterdam area in Google Maps and use your GPS, you can save on data. Cheeseparing tip #279.

Getting lost, 'discovering' coffeeshops, and all the ridiculous sights you'll see just shambling around is the best thing about Amsterdam, and its far more enjoyable than scrutinising a little screen and working out the easiest way to all the 'attractions' like a fat yank at Disneyland.

Shambling is essential mate but it's just nice to be able to hit them all in one swoop and then shamble away. I've got on wrong trams and ended miles out and all sorts of getting lost dragging mates around. Got to embrace the modern technology sometimes dude. I fucking love google maps

hahaha I've seen both sides of this old tale and taken a lot of flak for getting stoned-ass-lazy-bastard-stoner-mates lost between coffeeshops many times. Always after a confident proclamation of surety as to said establishments whereabouts too
I'm now firmly on the side of the Google Maps crew - a plague of glowing rectangles stooping to enlighten our weary faces and consult the hive mind.

There is though - definitely a LOT to be said for just getting stoned and getting lost. It's something I do every trip and I never get bored of it.

Even when you know exactly where you are and where you want to be, it's not always easy to find the best way of getting there, at least if you're not a crow planning to fly. If you're in a coffeeshop in de Pijp, say, contemplating any number of the myriad ways of going west-southish across Vondelpark, you can soothe your inner geek and avoid tedious and unending arguments with travel partners by using your device to find out exactly how long each proposed route is and the time it will take by driving, cycling, walking or public transport.
