I couldn't manage without google maps - it's a lifeline. Even though I know the city pretty well now I still like to be able to take a direct route to wherever I'm heading. Sometimes I amble and get lost sure - but I hate not being able to find the things I'm looking for - walking back and forth aimlessly drives me insane.

First time I went to New York me and my mate took one look at Brooklyn Bridge and said yeah! lets walk across it, it'll only take 20 minutes! 45 minutes later when we still werent even halfway across we sacked it and walked back. But we had a great laugh along the way, the views were fantastic, and it was fun to do. If my phone had told me beforehand that it was an hour on foot we wouldn't have even bothered trying.

I've just looked this up. According to Uncle Googly, the Brooklyn Bridge is just over a mile long, so shouldn't really take more than half an hour to walk, even if you aren't going very fast. How stoned were you?

It is very deceptive! Granted we were stopping to take photos, admire the view etc but its still a proper shlep

I'm in Amsterdam with a couple of friends the 23rd-25th. It would be fun to meet up if you're available, preferably on the Saturday.

In fact, I think we're going to rent a boat on the Saturday afternoon, and there's three spare spaces in the boat, so if you fancy that you'd be welcome. Toking on the canals - I've not done that before.

Yep, that weekend seems to overlap with a number of people. Might be worth seeing who fancies getting together on the Saturday night? I think there's another thread that I'll post that idea in.

The three of us have already budgeted for the cost, but rolling a few fat ones would go down a treat! Every boat needs a bit of fuel

I should add that the boat is from Boaty.com on the Jozef Israelskade near the hotel Okura. De Graal is on our walk there, might make sense to meet there about midday....

I pushed the trip forward a month. Would be cool to hang out but oh well Have a great one all!
