Hello. This place is epic!

Post by nobbsy »

Hey Team

Big fan of this site and new to the community. I'm finally heading to Amsterdam to meet up with with my smoking buddies. We made a pact over a decade ago that we would go for our 30th and now the long wait is over. I was doing some research so we could avoid the usual tourist traps and came across this gem of a community! Thank you so much for this amazing resource.

From what I've learned so far we'll be heading to Voyagers, Utopia, Grey Area, 1e Hulp, PrixD'Ami and Parodox. I'll be pouring over these forums for the next fortnight to add to the list but im always keen for more in put if anyone out there has some good ideas. Would also welcome ideas of things to do while baked in Amsterdam, ie nice parks or sweet museums.

Keep up the great work. You guys rule.

Welcome to the forum.

What dates will you be in Amsterdam?
I'll post you on the Whos In Town page.
You can see who else may be in town and any Toke & Talks that are planned.

I would suggest a day trip to Haarlem.

Haarlem coffeeshop map = https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?mi ... LeOFeKW6Iw

Birdy is my personal fav.

You have been posted on the August Whos In Town page. Scroll down to your month and click it.

You can see who else may be in town during your stay.

If you don't see yourself, click your refresh or reload button
Your browser sometimes loads pages from your local cache and
you don't get the latest update.

Watch for Toke & Talks, I post them up to the last minute.
There are other folks in town, so a T&T could happen.

Set yourself up with your own T&T or Toke and Talk, where you pick the coffeeshop
(your favorite) and the date and time, I will post it and you wait for folks to
show up, if they do you'll have a T&T. If they don't you still get to enjoy your
favorite coffeeshop!

By default I link your posting to your profile page here on ACD.

I can change it to a web link ( myspace, facebook, personal page )
or an email address if you want.

You can do a little practice shopping on the Coffeeshop Menus page.
Any with arrows are less than six months old.

Any nice new menu pictures you can get will be much appreciated.
Always ask first, better told no than thrown out.

Thirtieth birthday or some other thirtieth? I ask because while you may think the thirtieth birthday is significant, I can testify that the first significant birthday is 60 :-). And keep in mind that I am now fueled by 4 hours of sipping jack and ginger in the airport lounge.

welcome aboard mate. some reviews are by people with low resistance to cannabis and vice versa. so always get a few choices in each place, always look/smell, shame you cant touch. i would advise going to foodhullen and bratavia (opposite voyagers) do you have a proper portable vape or at least a cheap snoop dog vape/pipe pen. if nice day i would recommend nemo roof top (with a vape) is great and a nice view also free within 5 mins of that you got the bibliotek (library) 5th floor is la place (lovely food)has a viewing deck with stunning dam views. the library is awesome modern art too. hortis botanicus (spelt wrong) is great, even better with a vape. it was 7.50 euros last time their. albert cuypmarket is a must mainly for coffeeshops, de pijp area (de graal , club media are my favs). if your gonna to truffles or similar you might like glow golf. also cannabis collage worth a visit (growroom down stairs) plus greenplace close by and RLD or whats left of it. if you can rent a bike or motor bike its worth it. free boat ride behind train station is worth a go if bored, or get the train to haarlem (birdys my fav). you should chip in 50/50 on a vape a good one or maybe used off ebay but only a week or 2 old and used a hand full of times mighty vape £140 is a great price. and places ive mentioned are mainly free or very cheap which will give you that extra £140 free.
if your hammered and want a laugh you could rent a pedalo (we didnt have a clue what was happening and hit every boat we passed, but never laughed that much before) hope you have a great time

Hey Nobbsy and welcome on board!

We would say that you have an ok list of shops, but do yourself a big favor and skip Prix, one of the worst tourist traps in our book. Even better you might add Easy Times and especially one of the Boerejoegens shops to the list, you will not regret it!

For a really fun, and surprisingly cheap half day out (especially if you are a few to share the bill) we would highly recommend getting one of the electric boats and going for a waterborne picknick / smoke-out! We had a great time renting a boat from boaty.nl, it was only about 90 E for three hours of fun and even though we returned it almost an hour late the super nice guy called Martin who operated it did not charge us extra!!! :D There are other operators too...

The boats come with and without roofs (the roofed ones will limit you slightly as there are some canal bridges too low to go under) and carry six people. You can bring your own food, smoke etc. We think it formally says in the rules that alcohol and drugs are not permitted but Martin elegantly skipped this one when going over the rules with us and smoking was no issue at all, neither were the few beers we had, getting legally drunk might not be a good idea though as there are policeboats and we saw a few boats getting pulled over from the canal side window at Batavia (a real must visit!!).

Even if you have visited several times and know the city very well, as do we, you get an entirely new perspective on things from a boat going through the canals, and being your own captain, in control and so close to the water in the open air for sure beats the stuffy tour boats where you have to deal with not only the stupid announcer but also all the other tourist one the boat. Dealin with other people, and especially that kind of tourist will invariably cause a reaction from one or both of us along these lines: ‘eeeek, “real people” that are for the most part not high, get off and stop stepping on my buzz man!’
