Hi,

me and a good friend (both 41 years) will be going at the next weekend to Amsterdam to visit the coffeeshops to have a good time 8)

I would like to know where to find a coffeeshop in which the folks of my age are.
Maybe there ist some nice music too, i am not talking about the "pop music" of the teen generation and I just want to settle back in a nice atmosphere.

Thank you in advance for any tips and kind regards.

To be honest if you look a bit outside the busiest tourist areas/RLD you'll probably find quite a few shops fit at least some of your requirements.

Good music is a bit unpredictable in a lot of places, often just depending on who is working. Utopia's staff have been known to show good to great taste (imo) for example but if the owner guy is working it's a different story entirely!

Off the top of my head however decent places with a less youthful crowd might include

Paradox
Tweede Kamer
Siberie / De Supermarkt
Relax
YoYo
Het Ballonnetje
Mr K's
De Graal
Katsu
La Tertuila

Welcome to the forum.

You have been posted on the October Whos In Town page. Scroll down to your month and click it.

You can see who else may be in town during your stay.

If you don't see yourself, click your refresh or reload button
Your browser sometimes loads pages from your local cache and
you don't get the latest update.

Watch for Toke & Talks, I post them up to the last minute.
Enough folks in town for one to pop up at any time.

Set yourself up with your own T&T or Toke and Talk, where you pick the coffeeshop
(your favorite) and the date and time, I will post it and you wait for folks to
show up, if they do you'll have a T&T. If they don't you still get to enjoy your
favorite coffeeshop!

By default I link your posting to your profile page here on ACD.

I can change it to a web link ( myspace, facebook, personal page )
or an email address if you want.

You can do a little practice shopping on the Coffeeshop Menus page.
Any with arrows are less than six months old.

Any nice new menu pictures you can get will be much appreciated.
Always ask first, better told no than thrown out.

"Good music is a bit unpredictable in a lot of places, often just depending on who is working" (Not_the_monk) :) That is so true  and I have found the total vibe of a place will change with the time of day, The Bluebird my traditional first stop in the early am is a chill shop with good music, at night when the workers are done work and the students are done classes, well I'm old and they are not  have fun looking

Whilst expensive, and with a somewhat mixed clientele, Barney's Lounge has some excellent Old Skool music on regularly... Especially if you like Motown, or 60's-70's American Rock..... Good weed too!

Thank you again for your answers.

just as long the seats are comfortable, they have some nice music (I prefer funky stuff or soul) and some Drinks, I am sure I will have a great time :P

My last 2 trips I was 40 and 42...I'd say don't let age put you off too much. There are a few places that definitely have a younger vibe that are still worth checking out, even if only for a brief stop-in. I wouldn't miss Barney's (the coffeeshop), De Dampkring (the original one), Amnesia (owned by Barney's), or Bluebird even if on first glance they have a younger crowd. But the previous poster is correct - the further you get away from the center, the more likely you'll be to see people closer to your (our) age...
