Coffeeshops that gave up their licenses on April 1
From what I hear, the following coffeeshops gave up their marijuana/hash sales for liquor on April 1.
The Doors on the Spuistraat.
The Bulldog on the Singel. Coffeeshops on both sides still.
The Wild Style on the Oudezijds Voorburgwal. Rick's Coffeeshop next door is owned by the same people.
The Smoking Bull on Lange Niezel.
And the Nes.
Anyone been to other places that gave up their marijuana license on April 1?
And for those under 21, The Dampkring and Tweede Kamer have posted new signs saying no one under 21 allowed. The Dampkring recently was caught selling to a 15 year old. Also no hats or sunglasses can be worn inside.

You can add HSB and Hunters on Warmoesstraat to that list as I understand it…
IMO t’ Nes is by far the greatest loss of them all, even to the point of equalling the others collectively, although I am saddened that The Smoking Bull is added to the list, didn’t know that and even though their service can be quite shitty and I’ve been short-changed in there twice I would still go back (no more short-changing fucks, got my eye on them now) a million times for their selection of hash and Ice-O, especially the very reasonable prices on the latter. Case in point: The mind numbing and couch-locking Sticky Fingers Ice-O @ 18 € a gram. Two of the dealers said they themselves did not smoke it and preferred the other ice-o’s because the Sticky Fingers (which was the second cheapest and in short supply, indicating it wasn’t too much of a sales pitch) was too incapacitating for their liking when I asked them about it. It goes without saying that I had to try that
and it fucked with you real good, so we went back and bought some more, and then some more, and then again and… ;=) The female budtender said she loved it too (wass smoking a spliff of it at a later time, so guess she wasn’t shitting either) and referred to the other two as being somewhat pussies with a wink in her eye, we liked her
and she gave good service compared to the rest of the staff in there

Hill St Blues, in fact, has chosen weed, much to my surprise. Dampkring wound up giving away free drinks all day to empty their stock. Unsure of the status at Hunter's Bar, but will find out soon.. It's a strange one, as Hunter's owns both a bar and a coffeeshop with no liquor (the Coin) literally across the street.
Stones Cafe has also clearly posted a sign barring under 21 yr olds.
In other gossip... Dutch Flowers used to, and MAY VERY WELL STILL serve Beer and Wine with their weed. They never sold hard liquor to beign wiht, and a Dutch guy I know says they're definitely going to keep both. I'm not going to go to Dutch Flowers to find out (cause frankly I dont think it's worht the time and energy) , but I'd be nice if someone else did.
Hey, IMML... I saw you sitting outside the Greenhouse today. I would have said something, but I was across the canal at Ricks Coffeeshop (now in Wild Style, as you mentioned) Glad to see they were able to work around the law and keep their old bar open as well.

A-Bomb...H-Bomb... it was inevitable.
Dam kids. Are you sure that dampkring now does not let 18+ in? It woul really suck as everyone im going with this summer is 18 and 19 and i went last summer (was 18 at the time) and loved the place. I admit its very touristy but in the mornings its a wonderful place since it tends to be empty, and if not just to buy some gear and leave. If someone can tell me that the sign is going off or that at least they'll let us go in to buy that would be more than wonderful.
Dam young kids, its not fair i waited until i was 18 to go, to make sure I didn't screw anyone over and now they go and take away a good coffeeshop, I hope they will at least let us into the pink floyds coffeeshop, and that they don't change it much inside, I loved that place.

The discussion is, afaik, limited to the coffeeshops that chose to keep selling alcohol after 4/01, which, as I understood it when DC explained it to us back in august, was the latest any dispensation to keep selling alcohol and weed in the same location ran. Therefore the above list does not include coffeeshops that would not get their licences renewed when that time was to come, as I understand it, only shops that gave up their licence and converted to a fulltime bar. 420 is, again from what I’ve read, not one of those, thankfully... It is however quite interesting to see if the 420 cafe is going to remodel, given that the bar dominates half the CS and with the new business model it would make more sense to decrease the size of a bar only selling non-alcoholic drinks to allow for more guest to be seated or any other arrangement that would further the sale of da dwug…

Odd that HSB went with the green... I just took that as more of a bar, when we were in hardly anybody was buying smoke from there but the pints were practically drinking themselves!
Glad that Hunters and The Coin stuck with the green, WELL pissed about Nes though... we were there a week before the ban and I never made it in there. Gutted. Gutted. Gutted. Did I say gutted?
