OK, this is super-subjective, and it depends on a whole bunch of factors...but what have you found to be the friendliest coffeeshops? The BT, the atmosphere, even the other patrons--all of that can contribute to the "friendliness" vibe. For me, it's always been Amnesia--which I know from recent posts not everyone agrees! I typically go off-season when there are far fewer tourists, so that could be a factor.

Utopia wins hands down, and I suspect many will agree. Ingi manages, amazingly, to be genuinely nice to people, because she likes them, not because they're customers. Even if you're a newbie who may never come back to Amsterdam, you'll be welcome, and advised on smoking or other matters without bullshit.

Tweede Kamer, Katsu and Betty Boop deserve mentioning as well, dependent on the budtender and the vibe in the shop.

Yeah agreed - Ingi (and the other lady that I don't know) at Utopia are both super nice. Gabby (?spelling) and the lads at Voyagers are also always friendly and helpful (unless you want to know what strain Testing Tuesday is).

But Rookies got my vote for outstanding customer service back in September. Uncharacteristically helpful, professional and generous.
Extraordinary in fact. Especially given that the staff members were all in their early twenties.

I've had great service at Club Media too. The young lady BT's there always seem happy to clean bongs and provide lengthy tray sniffing privileges

Other than Green Place and El Guapo where the service is characterised by surly teenage gangster wannabes and is downright appalling. I find that a nice greeting and taking time to enquire about a BT's well-being before asking to see the produce goes a long way.

I've never had problems with Green Place, and the one time I stayed for a smoke the only thing I remember is having to ask for the toilet paper to be replaced in the loo, which was done quite cheerfully. But it wouldn't be my shop of choice.

1e Hulp has a very different vibe in the early hours, when it's relatively quiet, with the odd local or recent arrivee, like me. If you only know it from later in the day, when it's hard to believe the clientele are over 18, let alone the 21 you're supposed to be to smoke inside, you're missing a treat.

Oh Paradox is also great, the older (at least mixed) Afro-Dutch woman that works there is arguably the service I've ever had, brought my own tea-blend, and didn't wanna smoke their weed, but the woman still poured me hot-water and didn't even charge me for a regular tea, despite my insistence, also nice place to chill. Menu is decent, better than many, but still lacking in contrast with the more elite menus around town. For me the quality of service is on par (imo better) than the purported excellence of Utopia's, with a much better vibe for chilling – though playing devil's advocate against myself briefly will admit that Utopia has a better menu (cannabis products) than Paradox.

Jess? Haven't seen her in there on my last couple of visits, but if she still works there she's a genuinely lovely person.

To add to the suggestions above, La Tertulia is usually a friendly place, struck up many conversations with randoms in there and while both the lady's who've been there forever are generally pretty pleasant there's a really sound guy works there too, really welcoming.

Het Ballonetje is another pretty friendly place in my experience. Oh, and all the Siberie/Supermarkt group's shops tend to be pretty easy going and have good service usually too.

Ingi at Utopia makes them number one for sure, although some of the regulars (locals probably) can be a bit odd (dude with the Wu Tang tat on the neck seems often to be aiming for a stank-eye award of some sorts). Jessica is super sweet also, remember her from anyday where she was also a peach, but James takes a little time to get to know obviously, always been polite to us but heard him be less than accommodating to others and not always justified...

Most other suggestions are good in our book, but would for sure add the spirit and while it lasts de graal. The spirit seems to us to be underrated for atmosphere, although it gets very "local and quite Dutch", the staff is well-meaning, educated on their products, fast for a bunch of stoners and very humorous...
