Solo Trip (3rd - 5th Jan)

Post by jazzcigarettequartet »

Yo ACD! Long time lurker here, embarking on a 4th visit.

As the title says, it's looking like I'm ferrying it to the 'dam for a solo 2 night trip (I decided to extend the trip to 2 nights just now  ). Long story short, my friend had a complication with their passport application - see: leaving it waaaay to late - so I'm making the trip on my own.

Looking at booking an airb&b that has good reviews. Originally we had the Quentin Arrive booked on Haarlemerstraat (sp?) but I can get a private room in an apartment for the same price per night as the twin room at the QA. The airb&b i'm considering is very central, which isn't what I was ideally wanting, though it has it's positives with that. I'll look over the next day or so to book somewhere near Jordaan or De Pijp. Failing that, the central place it is (it looks decent tbh so I should probably book it now while it's still available.....).

Currently I'm interested in walking a lot on the first day to get out of the central area & will be (attempting to) visit some choice locations (both ganj & non-ganj related). Whether that pans out as planned is another question so who knows how it'll flow. For the herbal remedies I'm planning on taking time to source some top product, both hash & herbal. Anyone that knows of somewhere that does good vegan-friendly edibles please let me know :D....I can't find anything that gives a definitive answer on this

Welcome to the forum.

You have been posted on the January Whos In Town page. Scroll down to your month and click it.

You can see who else may be in town during your stay.

If you don't see yourself, click your refresh or reload button
Your browser sometimes loads pages from your local cache and
you don't get the latest update.

Watch for Toke & Talks, I post them up to the last minute.

Set yourself up with your own T&T or Toke and Talk, where you pick the coffeeshop
(your favorite) and the date and time, I will post it and you wait for folks to
show up, if they do you'll have a T&T. If they don't you still get to enjoy your
favorite coffeeshop!

By default I link your posting to your profile page here on ACD.

I can change it to a web link ( myspace, facebook, personal page )
or an email address if you want.

You can do a little practice shopping on the Coffeeshop Menus page.
Any with arrows are less than six months old.

Any nice new menu pictures you can get will be much appreciated.
Always ask first, better told no than thrown out.

You want to get out of Centrum, get on a train and take the 15 minute ride to Haarlem.

Cheers FlyByNight!

Change in plan regarding accomodation - I've decided & booked the 2 nights at a 4-star hotel near Erasmuspark (Amsterdam-West area) for around 125e. The lack of kitchen utilities is a bit of a downer - but 40e in savings, the location & the fact it has a bath tub was the decision-maker.

Any advice on the vegan-friendly edible front?? :P

Thanks for the link, got the "Dutch Weed Burger" (a plant-based burger, just not those type of plants) on my list....but I can't see anything to do with the edibles I'm looking for :P

I recall reading on these boards that Dampkring use honey but no dairy/eggs in their hash muffins, which may be the best compromise available. Will report back if I find otherwise :)

*forgive me if i've overlooked something in that article.

The question of vegan edibles has come up before, and as far as I recall nobody has ever found any. So you might want to report back if you find that things have changed, but don't count on finding anything.

If you use facebook then you could look up Pot Potions they are Amsterdam based and pretty sure on there blog they offer vegan treats. Never used them myself but i do know they have supplied La Tertulia coffeeshop in the past.

Yeah, it's something I've looked into for past trips but to no avail. Will definitelty post any info I find on this though.

@tinky: Major thanks for that idea / link. It's given me a reason to sign-in to FB at least & make an enquiry. I'm starting to think an independant / DIY vendor might be more fruitful in my search.

Cheers

Pot Potions got back to me to say they only blog about ganj & edibles, & not actively making them. Could be someone being a little overly cautious but I wouldn't blame them if so.

On the edibles front I'll ask around town, & failing all that may consider eating a half gram of hash after heating it on a spoon with coconut oil & stiring it into a yoghurt of sorts (not sure if that'll work. As a last resort a trial & error experiment may be on the cards).

Leaving tomorrow. I intend to make this an on the fly travel report but will see how it goes (I should be able to do updates along the way at least).

Sweet & wicked tokes folks - salubrious wishes to you all as we embark on another solar-lap.
