Those smoker-friendly bars

Post by free_phil_spector »

 I know we've had a few threads over the years but I've searched long and hard on here and cant find an answer to my question - although I suspect that's because the answer is gonna be 'no'. So another new thread it must be...

Do any of you know of any smoker-friendly bars to the west of the city? Along Rozengracht, in 1e Hulpe area, or further along to Jan Evertsenstraat/Mercartorplein area? Any help greatly appreciated 8)

The only answer here is Kashmir Lounge, unless you wanna count ot301 as smoker friendly but they're not exactly in that niche as is the aforementioned bar and say Batavia or Hill Street Booze.

Also sound garden is a "smoker-friendly" bar in the sense that they freely allow it on their back-patio/terrace, but not inside making it less than ideal for the cold winter months.

Cheers dude. When you say KL isnt in that niche I take it you're referring to the no baccy rule?

No my I meant bars that fully allow and embrace cannabis consumption on-site as well catering to the more stoner crowd in general. Ot301 has one of those tobacco death chambers indoors - as do many other normal "bruin cafés", as with most of these other tobacco death chambers in otherwise regular pubs, you can typically toke or at least easily get away with doing so - the only reason I loosely lumped ot301 in is because it has a strong alternative edgy vibe but that's more in its origins in the local squat scene than due to its intertwined story with cannabis.

ETA: it's KL that is in that niche (stoner pubs) and OT301 in another niche (squat bars)

Also good shout on Soundgarden, for some reason I thought that place was in the boonies. Will give it a go, are they ok with rolling indoors to take outside or is it a strictly outside-only affair?

Near 1e Hulp Sound Garden is the obvious choice. True you have to go out back to smoke but it is a cool bar.

It's not actually marked on this map but it's almost exactly opposite Funky Munkey.

Kashmir Lounge is also wonderful but not very close to 1e Hulp.

Hunter's on Utrectsestraat now offers both a CS and a smoker friendly bar next door!

My top tip:
http://www.the-flying-dutchman.nl/

On the 3D interior here: http://www.amsterdamtoer.nl/#128406 you can see "smoking downstairs only" and a collection of pipes upstairs! Last time I was there (July 2016 - didn't get there last weekend), the pool table was downstairs and there were a whole load of people skinning up.

Back in the day (early 80s when two of my mates lived in the Dam), there was a house dealer upstairs who always had good hash and coke.
