The boat tour is looking more than good, scratch that, it looks to be EPIC if but half of the peepz signed up make it, and it looks to be trusty folks so hopes are high (pun intended). “Our man in Amsterdam” is back in town just hours before we touch down and ready to get it on ,good to hear nugs, and the gang will be almost at full numbers during the 18th, so the bash at Batavia is prolyl also gonna be super sweet.

Well that I know I won't be working that week, my proposal is to move my Utrecht (which is competitive cat herding could readily be nixed) excursion to the Friday the day before as that day is quite empty on plans and will be agreeable with more of the herd's itinerary.

Hi Lem, I think the Sunday 16th. wasn't really a firm proposal from me more thinking out loud, if that's possible online .
I know a few folks are going to be still jet-lagged, and travelling, even my little journey will probably knock me out for a couple of hours afterwards so perhaps we might scrap that one as a T&T.
Probably might drop by Batavia later ourselves and see who's about for a nightcap but that's about it and really kick off proper on Monday.

@DeLekkersteNUGS16 - competitive cat herding! Like it! We can move that back to Friday if you like. Would you like to put a time on 't Grasje?

@Spidergawd - Thinking out loud is cool. Much of this is not very firm. If you think you'll be in Batavia for a nightcap and would like to briefly catch up with any other early arrivers then it might still be worth putting a time on it. Up to you though. I'm just consolidating what people post.

* Batavia kinda stands in for the Nes as a default nightcap these days.
I, for one, expect to finish most evenings there.

Talking of defaults, Utopia around opening time is often a good place to find us too.

Just in case we actually get there, I made this Google map of The Hague.

I see there are two stations and most trains from Amsterdam go to Den Haag HS. The nearest coffeeshop to there appears to be Happy Smile, ignoring a couple that I suspect are closed. Happy Smile is a boat, or a coffeeship as it calls itself.

In the opposite direction is a longer potential crawl towards Cremers via various places. Cremers is also about the same distance from Den Haag Centraal, if we found ourselves there.


Do we fancy a webcam wave this year? If so, before or after the boat?
Actually, we still have 4 options to meet up for the boat. 'spose we ought to pick one of them really.
And after the boat? Default of Utopia followed by Batavia?


Just a little over 2 weeks for me (J is joining me on the Friday, incidentally). Getting proper excited now. See you all soon.

2 weeks, 4 days and we touch down in Schipol, excited is an understatement!


Utopia then Batavia after the boat trip would be our pick as well, still a little torn on what would be the best place for meet up before boat trip... The college or green place should be the two closest (right?), both of them would be fine by us, bluebird is an old favorite but may be a bit too far away for those on foot.

The original Old Church is no longer a coffeeshop and the 'new' Old Church is not very close to the Oude Kerk.

Probably best to get everyone assembled in a nearby coffeeshop and then shepherd the cats as a group into the RLD.

All of them are fairly close. Bluebird is only about 10 minutes very leisurely walk away.

The only shop left truly in the RLD is The Bulldog. Around the edges of the RLD are Babylon, Feels Good, Greenhouse Effect etc. around Newmarkt and so on. As many of these are not that great, the places already suggested sound good. We just need to settle on one of them so everyone knows where to go. If we all gather in the selected place around 3pm then we can attempt to round up the cats and marshal them towards the boat.

The AH on Newmarkt is probably the best place to stock up on beer and munchies. Most of the places suggested are close to there and/or we'd pass there on our way to the boat.

The boat has moved a short way along the canal recently so I guess the refurbishment is finished.

Closer to the disembarking point as possible, i would say meet up outside the old church by the pisser, at 330 or so

Lem your are map guy We need CS T and T at 2 or 230 that's not to far and we will walk past Albert H . To grab beers on way to Boat .Would suggest something between Abarxas and the Boat ,not to much walking
