Stupid things you did in place of cannabis

OK, by definition not cannabis, but it the topic seemed to belong here rather than in any other forum. What you did when you were (probably) young and (even more probably) not using those little grey cells to their full extent.

I missed out on the banana hoax, thank fuck, but had heard that you could get a buzz from smoking an aspirin. It was my mother's wonder drug, the only one she'd take (although she dutifully filled the prescriptions of those she didn't, leading to an interesting '70s medicine cabinet). So I put it in my pipe and smoked it, to use one of her favourite expressions. It tastes absolutely foul, and that's about it.

Even before I'd ever tried cannabis, I'd heard about smoking a standard cigarette in an improvised toilet roll carburettor. Yep, there's a rush, particularly if you're unused to tobacco, followed by a feeling I don't want to remember. You tried it too? Sympathies.

Not quite sure where to class nutmeg, which Malcolm X swore by, and possibly at, in a prison where drugs weren't as available as they reportedly are now. Grate a full matchbox's worth and stir it into a glass of water. Which I did, and felt ever so slightly nauseated. But I think it's one of those things where your mileage may vary very considerably.

Honourable mention to Ross the bullshitter, trying to impress. In the absence of anything proper, he tried to convince a disparate group of students (he'd been kicked out some while back, but that's another story) that smoking tea had a point. Ideally leaf tea, but the contents of teabags at a pinch. I can't remember which he rolled up, but no, don't bother. Though it might make a nice non-tobacco filler for those who don't smoke pure, for whatever reason.

^^ This. My brother, convinced it would be a winner, emptied a PG Tips bag into a rizla, rolled it, sparked it up and took one puff before all the tea simply fell out of the rizla onto the floor

I hotknifed the burnt end of a chip once, purely by accident. Very creamy smoke, slightly acrid with a subtle lard flavouring. Mainly a head high , very intense.

Just remembered that in the old East Germany there was a rumour that if you put Spee, which was washing powder, into a glass of Prick (yes, really) or Club Cola, and drank it, you could get high. There was no cannabis in East Germany, because the currency was worthless and border controls were tight. (In Poland they made their own opiates, but that's another story.)

I don't know if this is a myth or not, because I never tried it, and don't know anyone who claims to have done. Maybe someone here could tell us more, though it's a longshot.

Not so much stupid but I did try salvia divinorum once.

Bought a huge bag for a tenner online as I'd heard it could make you go to weird places.

Sweet sweet FA imo. Perhaps a slight relaxing feeling but I'm convinced that's just a placebo effect.
