Phew...... after a headache of trying to get the holidays booked from work etc it is finally approaching!

We, being myself and me fiancee are entering the Dam, First time for her and the 3rd time for me, and oh my I CANT F!CKING WAIT!

We will be staying at the really classy BEURSSTRAAT Hotel, its only a 1 star and to be honest the reviews of it dont sound very good, but all we want is a clean bed Under shelter so as long as we have that there aint gonna be any issues!!

We will be getting there at Dam Sq. at around 3ish in the afternoon so staright to the nearest C-shop anything good thats close...any good idea's anyone??? NOT THE TOURIST AREA@S Grasshopper a BIG NO NO!

then we will make our way over to the hotel and throw the bags in and away we go!!

apart from that we have no other plans at all, so if anyone is around at the time it would be great to say hi to a fellow c-shop direct forum user!! have a smoke and a beer would be great each time i have tried this and never managed to sort a meet out!!

Has anyone stayed at this hotel??? is it ok???

I am really excited now and i really cant wait to get there!!! DAM HERE I COME!! oooops here WE come!!!

Best wishes to you and your fiancee, Dan! Looks like you have a very central hotel location. And of people who have stayed there, the majority found it acceptable:

You will be okay, don't worry; enjoy your stay and the company of your special lady. You'll be leaving not quite two weeks before I will arrive, but you can check the Who's in Town link on FlyByNite's site for other forum members:

I have enjoyed visits to the Nes Cafe (alas, no longer a coffeeshop; a decision of their landlord, but they have beer) and Basjoe, which is a pleasant quiet place with some interesting weed. Good weed at Grey Area, although the shop is tiny, and usually crowded. Tweede Kamer (I usually ask what sativa they would recommend, see them all, and try whichever one they offer last) and Paradox are two shops I would not hesitate to recommend.
:)
Make a nice loop tour by walking west across Leliegracht, then south along the west side of Prinsengracht, and back east across Runstraat/Huidenstraat/Wijde Heisteeg. Myself, I would buy weed at Grey Area, maybe the black hash (shaped like a snake) at Paradox (a good spot for chocolate chip cookies and a sandwich), and more bud from Tweede Kamer (or Dampkring--they have the same menu).
Just have tea or a cold drink at other places (well, maybe have some chocolate cake at Amnesia): check out the upstairs at La Tertulia, watch people passing by at Dutch Flowers, do window-shopping on Kalverstraat and wander back toward your hotel past Basjoe (pronounced something like "bus-shoe").
I think you would find a visit to the Garden downstairs (3,- EUR per person donation) at the Cannabis College (Oude Zijd Achterburgwal 124 on the east side of the canal) to be highly educational. It's the only place in Amsterdam where you can "legally" see live marijuana plants growing. Everyone there is very friendly and will answer all your questions.

A lot of people enjoy the view from the Old Church coffeeshop; that is still on my "to do" list. Most of these places are on the ACD map link:

I carry a compass and a map so I don't get lost. Not real lost, heh, heh...
All the best!
