June 2006

Post by geoffk »

I realize I'm a little overdue, but since I've just become a forum member, I thought I would share some of pics from my last trip to the Dam. My and my bud were on our way to the World Cup last year. We started out in Amsterdam for only 3 nights. The first time I was there (March, 2000) was a lot colder, but we hit some of the same coffee shops. Green House Centrum and Rokerij for a couple of pints at night. Here's the skinny:

1) I wanted to try Barney's to see what the hype was about, but they were so crowded. All for the better because we ended up at Siberie which has a great atmosphere and even better coffee, plus nice people working there. We tried the Red Bud at 4 euro, the Outdoor Purple Skunk at 4.5 euro, the Super Pollen at 6.5 euro, the Lady Edelweiss at 6.5 euro and the Mighty Whitey 0.75g at 5 euro. My favorite was the Outdoor Purple Skunk and Super Pollen.

2) That night we stopped by the Greenhouse Centrum for a pint of white beer (I like Greenhouse's beer better than Rokerij's) and got some Hash Meets Haze at 10 euro. Then we stopped by Dampkring for another pint and smoked our own. It was standing room only, so we ended up at Rokerij for more beer and purchased a sweet haze. I've decided that Rokerij is overpriced, but I like the ambience. There was an older gent spinning classic rock and dub/reggae.

3) The second day we headed over to Haarlem for some sightseeing and smoking. We found a Willie Wortel's (see pic) and tried the Shiva at 7 euro based on the budtender's advice. It was alright. They were playing some really bad top 40 r&b. We then went over to the Theehuis, picked up some Viva Orange at 6.75 euro and some Polm at 6.25 euro. I liked the Orange and Polm combo.

I've thrown some pics in there. Not much of coffee shops or weed. We also took the ferry and biked to a park with a beach called Hed Twiske. I would recommend the ride out there.
I'm a big fan of the Hostel in Vondelpark. It's a non weed smoking hostel, but you can walk into the park and burn one for breakfast.

How come all those pictures say you posted them today? What happened to the original ones?

Some of them seem very familiar........

The original pics were from my entire trip to Holland and Germany for the World Cup last year. Since I couldn't get the individual pics to post I created a new album (this morning) for a portion of the pics.

I can't say why they seem familiar, unless youv'e perused my album before.
