How many of you have traveled out side of Amsterdam, not to Haarlem or anything, just the other small towns?...

Pot is tolerated right?... I was wondering in the smaller towns, do they have coffee shops and such?....What about the coast and the beach?....

Yes, smaller towns do have coffeeshops. Tolerance is a country wide thing.

Click the little map link with the red X in the upper left corner of the page, then the Netherlands Provinces map link at the bottom of that page. From there, you may click on a province on the map, or you may link to the Town Index.

Crayon has visited Arnhem (Joint Venture, Speakeasy, Happy Days), Beverwijk (smoked on the beach in winter), bicycled through Den Haag & Scheveningen (smoked in parks (discreetly), under the pier at the beach and at Cafe Cremers coffeeshop on Prinsestraat 84), Egmont aan Zee via Alkmaar (there was a coffeeshop nearby, but we were stoned on arrival and failed to find it), Maastricht (favourite shop was the Mississippi Boat on the river), and Vlieland (no CS, bring your own; there is CS Hofnar in Harlingen, but they were closed before I boarded the afternoon ferry). Rented a bicycle in Vlieland and explored the cranberry bogs, dunes and woods. Buy a map at the VVV across from the ferry.

Outside of Amsterdam, it may not always be cool to smoke in your hotel room; stand by the window, be mindful of families with children, etc. In Haarlem, Joop's Hotel made me sign a paper agreeing that I would smoke no weed and use no drugs on their premises; clean & decent place recommended by Rick Steves, but I won't stay there again! Was in Gouda on a Sunday with a guided tour; very few places were open, no chance to find a CS.
