Vaporisers

Post by Rob_OG »

With Lemming's encouragement, I'm running this poll to see which vapo is the favourite of ACD regulars (or favorite if you're in the US - the spellchecker seems happier with that).

Coffeeshops in NL seem to go with either a Verdamper http://www.hempcity.nl/cannabisshops/in ... porhighzer
or a Volcano http://www.storz-bickel.com/us_home.htm?x=60&y=11, so which do you prefer, or is there a better model out there now?

Cheers

Rob

Hi Rob!

Say a big hello to S and it's Volcano all the way. Those other things are more like glorified bongs to me.

Both.

The Volcano is good for large groups at a single table or split up as it's only the bag that has to move. Also, the simple fact yer smokin out of a hot air balloon gives it a comedy edge that helps kick off a dose of the giggles. However, it's not cheap and repair work can be a pain in the butt, I'm told. Plus the bags need replaced.

The glorified bong is also good for large groups if you get the large bowl, but it's awkward getting it to a table it isn't setup for. Unlike the volcano, once you've loaded it, you can come back and get a fresh smoke multiple times. Very useful at 5.30am when yer tryin to play pool and it's this point that probably makes it best for home use. It's cheaper than the volcano by about 50 - 70 bucks and the parts just need cleaned. The mouth piece can be changed to fit the 'layout of the land'.

Both do a great job, but if I was buying one for myself...it would be the Verdamper.

We're gettin a Volcano at work too, just to have the best of both worlds. :D

i definitely liked the Verdamper and will keep it in mind for the next time i am looking for new toys......but for now i am a Volcano man.

Another thing about the Verdamper i like is that since it is has standard GonG connections and is essentially a bong with a heater on top, you can use it like a weird bong. Replace heater and heater bowl with a normal bowl and you have a normal bong hit....nice!

I like the verdamper better. You always get a fresh, cooled hit.For a sit down smoke session there is not much better than a verdamper.Gets me stoned. For a party with a lot of people the volcano works much better, especially if there is alcohol, too.I would really like both

These are certainly the top two of the vaporisers I've tried.

The simple lighter-powered devices like the Eagle Bill are difficult to use. The many soldering-iron-inside-a-jar-style vaporizers are relatively cheap but not very effective because they use a hot plate that tends to burn some of the grass and/or not vaporize the rest. The best are, without doubt, the ones that involve passing hot air through the grass.

The Verdamper VaporHighzer has a neat heating element that's less viscous than a heat gun. It incorporates water-cooling like a bong and looks fantastic. On the other hand, there is a lot of scope for burnt fingers, broken glass and spilt water.

The Volcano is very easy and safe to use. Its downsides are that it's very expensive (although it will pay for itself eventually because it gets so much more THC out of the same amount of grass than smoking) and sucking vapour out of a bag looks very uncoolly like sniffing glue.

My only experience is a home made model we made almost 20 years ago. We used a car cigarette lighter powered by a large battery covered by a clear plastic funnel. We placed the weed on the lighter and watched carefully for the vapour to appear. Then removed our hand from the top of the funnel and inhaled. It worked, but took a lot of attention so you don't burn the bud. I've never tried a "real" one, guess I better get on it.

Hi IG,

Sally sends a big Haarlem hug. We're thinking of going back there in two weeks' time. I really need to check out the Verdamper properly!

Had no weed since three days after my return, so my Volcano is sitting cold & lonely.

Enjoyed the Verdamper after I figured out how to use it right, but after 2 years of having my 'Cano I much prefer it. Just find it easier to use and don't worry about my cats, or stoner friends, knocking it over.

Okay it sucks being out of weed but WOW you get to go back in 2 weeks!?!

Y'all have it so good when it comes to the cost and time it takes to get to the dam. If I were a jealous person I sure could be of you, ya lucky dawg! You know, I'm small enough to fit in a suitcase... lol

I'd be happy to put you in my suitcase, it'd make a change with the security questions at the airport.

Haven't tried a verdamper before, but i'll be in about it if i get a chance to try one.

My friend has a volcano and it certainly is a nice bit of kit, you get so much more bang for your buck with it.

Maybe one of you chappies can answer my question...

Vapo related.

My missus has never smoked in her life, she's quite inquisitive about the old vapo though, is it likely to have her hacking her lungs up? Is it as smooth as everyone says or is it just smooth to people who've been burning up their lungs with dope smoke for the last 2 decades? ;-)

I don't doubt she can handle the effect, she only ever eats hash and doesn't smoke it, she's more concerned about hacking like a crazy mofo inna C/S.

What d'ya know, what d'ya say?

Cheers

Verdamper is INSANELY smooth....my girl never smokes anymore (used to back in the day, but know its a hit a year maybe) and she was hitting the verdamper and saying that she didn't like it because it was so smooth she couldn't tell if she was getting a hit...til she was stoned!

Good choice of words there Maz , thanks man - I'll be sure to let her know for July, how exactly does it work, one bag per person... or is it a shared thing for a couple of people?

Very much a noob when it comes to 'em, I have no interest in the things myself... much more a sit down and smoke a joint person, no matter how much cleaner or smoother a vapo may be I am an out and out doob smoker.
