So whats it like having bars and coffeeshops seperated??

Post by cheese »

I was just wondering how people are finding the new setup in amsterdam. That is having bars and coffeeshops seperated.

Is it just as easy to buy some herb somewhere and bring it to a chill out place to spark up a few and have a couple beers??

Are all the places that sell booze still mostly bars with music and such or all there some places that are starting to stand out as a kinda bring your own weed , chill out and drink all you want. Im assuming nes is sorta like this as i know it isnt selling weed anymore, but still selling that great beer!!

anyway, just wondering if there are any "bars" that seem to be catering towards the cannabis smokers who enjoy a pint while they smoke.

cheers

I'd like to know as well. In another post, someone mentioned Cafe Belgique as a smoker friendly bar. Do you ask the staff and the people sitting near you if it's ok? I would assume, unless everyone is toking, that you would not want to piss your fellow patrons off by sparking up without asking.

well its turns out alot of them that went to the booze still allow smoke, so essentially we would buy our smoke and go to the places where we could drink. it wasnt bad at all.

Not only are the ex-coffeeshops smoker friendly but other places seem to be jumping on the bandwagon. I spotted this sign in the bar next door to Hollywood coffeeshop. Presumably following the example of nearby Lost in Amsterdam.

Wonderbar is a wicked little place. Spent a lot of time there when I felt I could not make it to Pink Floyds without refreshments.

The seats by the window are well cool, passed on the hooker pipe mind :D

Coffeeshops and Alcohol

Post by Margie »

I patronized the coffeeshops serving alcohol and was surprised when I went to the Greenhouse and was informed -- "No alcohol." The barista directed me to "Susie's Saloon" across the street if I wanted to smoke and enjoy a beer.

Would be great to compile a list of the cafes who are weed/hashish smoker friendly?

At present, I only know of "Susie's Saloon." Anybody out there have any favorites?

thanks for the tip about Nes. Going there tomorrow.

Now I know of two:

Susie's Saloon
Nes

Anybody else out there have any weed/hashish smoker friendly cafes?

Per this forum, and not from experience:

Susies's Saloon
Nes Cafe
Cafe Belgique
Tetra Cafe

I'm in favor of compiling a list. I really liked the white beer they served at Greenhouse. What a shame.

The little bar next to de Kuil is smoker-friendly, and stays open very late.

Just got back, and spent some time in Smoking Bull, which gave up its weed licence, but allows smoking.
Usual fare for beer, but is spacious at the back.
Big TV for football if you like that kind of thing.

Anyone know what Tetra Cafe is like? (makes me think of TetraPak - the people that make the milk cartons in the UK)

Staying just down from there in Cornerhouse and I get the distinct impression the Cornerhouse bar ain't smoker friendly...

I like finding a watering hole that allows smoking but is within very short staggering distance at closing time
