THose old Dutch ladies are pretty resilient - the trick is to just clip their ankles with your pedals - that way they go down pretty good.

Sounds like a great plan. If you rent from Starbikes, De Ruijterkade has a very quiet paved area that will be perfect for ten minutes riding around safely to acclimatise and get yourself back into the flow of things, if you're really nervous as I was - get one of the crew to come with you and chaperone for your first ten minutes through traffic back to voyagers for a calming doobster (I'd be happy to but won't be arriving till mid-way through your trip). After that you'll realise you had nothing to fear.
Overconfidence might be more of a danger for me than fear :)
It would be novel to be on the other side of the equation. I remember one occasion of being nearly run over by a bike. I looked around, saw this bike about to hit me and somehow grabbed the handlebars and stopped it dead and upright leaving me eye to eye with the shocked rider. It was like catching a bullet in my teeth.

Wow! Sounds like a moment you’re unlikely to forget in a hurry! You’ll be incredibly surprised at how calm life is on the other side of the equation. It amazes me every time. It looks totally haphazard but you soon realise that the city is now moving at your pace rather than the opposite.

Nope, just me then

Finished work today, euros stacked, 2 week course (so my boss thinks) consisting of one week classroom based and one week field trip on hazardous substances in Dutch coffee shops.

Hope he isn't a member here

Would that be a bad thing? Your boss being a member and most likely a 420 friendly person.. "dude, i need a raise.."

"Yeah, why, what have you done to get one?"
"Well, for starters, I intake an ouce per month"
That could go two ways, he providing you with a discount or enough money to pay for some.. given that you share with him.

@Lemming:

Re: Baarsjes crawl: We see your point wrt the distances, we tend to forget that not everyone is riding bikes. How about this suggestion then:

Start at New Amsterdam - should be relatively easy to find, trams to Mercatorplein being an obvious choice for those not inclined to hoof it or ride the fiets. This is probably also the best way to maximize attendance as we risk loosing cats after the first stop, might get delayed etc.

From here we could make our way to Massawa by way of Flashback / De bommel for b&f / photos and across the small bridge at the end of cabotstraat and maybe past El Marssa. This would also allow you to make small detours for photos of 156, Ruthless and the route isn't too long or winding.

From Massawa those that have the stamina can make their way down to Kashmir lounge to finish up the crawl...

Well, that's one way to do it at least :D
Always know where your towel is! :wtf:

Yep, sounds good to me.

Boss at New Amsterdam is expecting us but hasn't made any specific offers so don't know what we can expect there. Making main stops there and at Massawa going via other places sounds like a good plan.
