Night 1
Abraxas- Nice first smoke, sat by the doors on a wall attached sofa. The place had quite a lively buzz to it, which made the high more uplifting. There was a pimp outside that was sorting out some sort of business on his phone.
Dolphins- After a bit of a walk, mostly in the wrong direction thanks to the Apple Jack, we found The Dolphins. I got a nice receipt stating what I brought which made a good souvenir. The seats in here are by far the comfiest in the whole of Dam. The downstairs is amazing, I don’t know what my fascination is with it, but I love it! All the bags were pre-weighed, but they did have a nice sticker on the bag.
Noon- They had cheap Blueberry (4g for 23Euro) and coffees at 1.50. It was much smaller than expected, especially because of the reputation. I remember a customer asking for a 'not so strong' pre-rolled joint. This made me and my friend laugh as we were smoked a couple of big Blueberry joints. The vibe in here was really chilled, nothing was rushed. I wonder why
Stix- This was a very small coffeeshop, when we entered 3 people left. A good job, as the upstairs was closed and seats are limited. The stairs to the upstairs were long and windy, so it was probably good that the upstairs was closed. The budtender was friendly but you had to hold a button to keep a light on the menu. A bit silly when your high. The seats were comfier than they looked
Bluebird- Friendly budtender who knew his smoke and I think loved his job a bit too much. The menu was quite large, but the smoke was kept outback. Not sure as to why though. We rolled up 2 big joints, which smoked so much, 2 people left that were just sipping coffees.
We then had the munchies and found a place that did steak, chips and salad for 9.5 Euro. This meant that the meal was only 15Euro per person, they forgot about the 2nd drinks
. The steak was nice, but in my opinion should have been cooked a minute or two longer to make a true medium rare, but hey, its Europe.
Greenhouse Centrum- Quite busy and took quite awhile to get served drinks. Nice Hawaiian Snow. This was totally covered in crystals, hence the name. It also had weird lights in the tables, which were fun to look at while high.
Abraxas- Nice chilled place for a quick joint before a smoke in hotel
Day 2
Amnesia- This place had a light and airy vibe to it, though most of the air was smoke
. The Cherry bomb was quite harsh, but did pack a decent punch. The budtender was so high, he labelled the bag of Honey Bee as Amnesia Haze, and this was at about 11:45
. He quickly realized and changed it.
Grey Area- We were the first customers in here that day, but we did have to wait outside for 5 minutes. I got 3g for 30Euro instead of 31.5! Not much, but it meant a free drink. Very small place and the chairs scrapped nastily along the floor. There were some really annoying Americans in there though, one telling a story of how his friend had a pound (16oz) of herb. They went on about it like it was the only time that anyone had that amount.
Homegrown Fantasy- Brilliant toilet, but it did smell. Nearly fell over laughing when I was going! It was really quite when we were there however. Didn’t try the smoke, but my friend purchased a g of Genie of The Lamp, which had a strong high.
Prix d'Ami- Quite busy compared to other chops. They had lovely Black Widow, much more flavoursome than White Widow. I managed to roll and smoke half a joint before getting served though, which was the only downside to the shop.
Highway- We were the only people in here when we went in. Got some lovely Crystal Bomb and had a coffee at the bar. Chocolate is kept at eye level, so if you sit at the bar, be prepared to eat at least one. The coffee was insanely hot. It took about 10 minutes to cool down to a temperature that could be drunk. The crystal bomb was definitely the strongest high of the trip. Once smoked it nearly knocked my mate out, but that was on top of a day of smoking.
Night 2
Dampkring- This had a wide range on the menu, but there was not anything amazing or extra special. I decided on the Rifman Zina hash. It was pretty nice, but compared to other the hash's smoked on the trip it was not worth 13Euro for a gram. Tried to remember where the table was in Oceans 12, but couldn’t. May have to watch that at some point again.
Dutch Flowers- Weed came in greaseproof bags! WTF? Bags aren’t expensive, use them. The table we sat at was quite high, or the chairs quite low. Either way, I felt like a kid at the table. We then left as we had a long walk to Tweede Kamer
Tweed Kamer- Exactly the same as Dampkring menu. They had possibly the most uncomfortable seat in my life that I had ever had the unfortunate of sitting on (to the left of the bar as you go in). It was a piece of wood sticking out from the wall, that had a beam running above the seat, so sitting back was not an option. Friendly budtender there, but I was too high to talk to him, so I let him chat away to an English lady. Who he was blaming for the rain
Softland- There were really comfy sofa seats alongside both walls, so it could have quite a few people in when busy and not really notice it. They were padded out nicely, so you kind of sunk into them. May have been really high, but the walk from the door to the bar seemed to takes hours!
We then decided it was time to eat, so we found a place that did ribs for 13.50Euro. They were really nice and came with a huge bowl of chips. We were quite lucky with the time, as they did not seat any more customers after us. The food took awhile to be served, but was worth the wait. After finding the restaurant and eating it was quite late, so we could only fit another shop in.
Abraxas- We went here again for a joint before going to the hotel room. It was stupidly hot in here this time for some reason, so we smoked quickly, drunk the Looza's and went back to the hotel
Day 3
Hill Street Blues- Didn’t stay for a joint in here, but my friend brought a few g of Hill Street Special. Nice crystal covered buds. Quite compared to my previous visits (esp. NYE)
Willie Wortels Indica- Nice comfy airplane style seats, maybe not good after a long flight? The hot chocolate in here was good. I wanted to get one of the cups as it said WW on it, but they didn’t sell them. I did consider stealing it, but couldn’t be bothered to carry a dirty cup around Haarlem all day. Plus MileHigh will probably read this
Smaller menu than I had seen from previous menus, but still a good choice. I got some Temple Ball and wow! Nice smoke and effect! Also, the bags with the Willie Wortels logo on were a nice touch. I took that and my bags from the Dolphins home as souvenirs.
Empire- Had a friendly female budtender, who showed us 2 bags that weren’t on the menu. So I got the Crystal White. Got the drinks in and sat outside smoking away. It was really weird, seeing people going about their daily routine, while we sat there smoking joints. Haarlem is more like a 'normal people' place, so smoking a joint at midday when mums walk there kids to/from school seemed weird. Didn’t stop me though! I did stop smoking when I saw little kids, good karma and all
Regine- Went for hash in here as I had enough weed. The drinks were cheap, and we got 33cl can of coke, not a 20cl glass bottle! The primera was really light, the lightest of the hashes I had in the trip. The effects were really strong, made Haarlem a bit of a daze. (Could have been the Temple Ball earlier too!)
Easy Going- Menu hadn’t changed since ever from what I have seen. Decided upon the Shiva and smoked it sitting at a table near the door. Again, we did some people watching, but we were inside, so we smoked constantly
Highway- Again we went in here, again it was empty! Again, we got some Crystal Bomb and coffees, and again the coffees were really hot. We really liked this place; the female budtender was welcoming too.
The Coin- Loads of funky paintings on the wall can’t remember of what, but they were cool. Didn’t get anything from the fun menu, but when my friend ordered me an Apple Looza, he got Apple Juice! Bit of a shame, but hey, it’s similar enough. The seats could have done with a bit of a clean. They looked like they should be sticky to the touch, but weren’t.
Popeye- Returned here several years after eating a happy breakfast that sent me up with the angels for a few days. The place hadn’t changed and they still had Great White Shark on the menu. Choose that then sat in the downstairs part. This was nice as not only where we the only ones there, but I got to see the paintings on the wall this time, as last time I was a bit dazed!
Pink Floyd- Popped in quickly, saw the menu was the same as Dampkring, which was the same as Tweede Kamer, so we decided not to buy and headed to Barneys.
Barneys- We went in and were the only people in the shop. The staff were friendly, which I was surprised about. I wasn’t expected it! I then ordered some coffees and some Sweet Tooth. The waitress then brought them over to us, which was from the bar all the way to the seats by the window!
Abraxas Too- Went in here to see the changes had occurred. The only Space Food on offer was brownies and muffins
Didn’t buy anything from here as we felt we had sampled what we wanted from Abraxas. Had a drink and a joint, then left.
Amnesia- Went in here quite late and ordered a few drinks and rolled a joint. While smoking, the Volcano Vapo caught my eye. Had never used one myself before, so I was shown what to do by a waitress. 9Needless to say, I put some in and did it on 5, was quite nice. Then, the male budtender came and cranked it up to 7, much more non-smoke in the bag. Left Amnesia and floated back to the hotel.
Day 4
Abraxas- After waking up later than planned and missing breakfast we headed to Abraxas. This had become our favourite shop to chill in. We sat up the stairs, which made going to the toilet seem like a trip that lasted for ages. Had a good smoke up to finish off my friends stash and then we brought a muffin each and rolled a joint to have at the airport. On the train to the Airport we sat in first class and ate the muffin. Got to the airport, smoked the joint and checked in. On the flight home I passed out, apparently mouth wide open, eyes shut for the whole flight. A sign of a good muffin I believe? Landed back in England, went through customs, a woman sitting on a chair in a small walk-through room. My friend picked me us up and we went home. Then smoked a joint from my smuggle bag
I got 3g of weed and 0.8g of hash. Now to save them
All in all the most flavoursome herb was the Blueberry from the Noon. The flavour was so nice, almost sweet. Definatley the most Blueberry tasting Blueberry I have tried. It made the Blueberry from my NYE trip taste like nothing!
The most intense high was definatley the Crystal Bomb from the Highway. Both times this was smoked, it forced me to order another coffee and dump about 4-5 sugars in
I wouldnt smoke this before doing anything important or physical, as both your mind and body are out to lunch.
My favourite coffeeshop had to be Abraxas. This was partially because it was close to the hotel and the attractive females working there
Didnt go upstairs till the last night, but was worth it. Loads of seats, could even cater for a large group in one section
I only ate 2 muffins, one from the City Hall and one from Abraxas. City Hall's tasted nicer, it had a sugar crunch to its top layer. However didnt get me that high, though the Kashmir Ice and Buddhas Sister made sure I was high in the hotel room. My mate had a joint in the hotel room and fell asleep, so he was happy with them. I managed to smoke up for quite awhile before bed. City Hall's had 0.2g of herb in, I thought that it was quite low. The muffin from Abraxas however seemed to knock me out alot more than City Hall's. One the flight home I was sound asleep. However, my friends muffin looked managled and slightly burnt. Not good, but he still got sleepy on the plane too. I would say my favourite overall was Abraxas'.
I did notice that on this trip, the coffeeshops were alot quieter than I had seen them before. This could be because we avoided the Centrum/Red Light Area for most of the trip. This worked out well for several reasons. Firstly, I find it really annoying to be offered charlie and xtc every other corner or bridge. I know its to be expected there, but it gets tired, quickly. When your eating a pizza slice at 2 in the morning, high as fuck, you dont want to hear the dealers shouting 'pizza man, hey, talk to me pizza man'. So we just avoided it. Secondly, we didnt encounter that many mess head/crazy people or beggars. We did hear a funny argument between a respectable black man and a black crack dealer/user. The respectable man was saying 'why dont you get a job', 'earn some real money' etc. To which the crack head was saying 'Dont touch me man' and 'fuck you'. It was really fun to wake up, spark a joint and then listen to. It got so funny I actually got up to watch it. Thirdly, it meant that we didnt pay tourist prices for weed, or get poor quality product. I will definatley be repeating this starergy next trip!
Another possible reason was the alcohol ban that has recently came into effect and affected business quite alot in my opinion. Places like Hill Street Blues were extremley quiet compared to what I had seen previously. I didnt touch a drop of alcohol on the trip, apart from 3 beers before flying to Schipol in the airport bar.
I shall upload photos/videos in the next few days and put them in this thread. I will also get the list of what my friend smoked, but he wasnt noting the prices. There is probably alot that I havent written, because as you all know, remebering Amsterdam can be difficult.
