Well I did make it to our favorite city for the 4/20 celebration and boy it was a strange trip indeed!
Im sorry that it has taken so long for me to write a report but I recently moved from my home in Japan to England since and this is my first free breath to write something.
Im going to make a few observations and tell the more interesting things that happened this trip rather than make this a smoke report because I have to say that I had no bad experiances in the quality of the coffeeshops products this trip or for the last several(I go once or twice a year)and so I can sum my toking experiances as being'all good' as the rap venacular goes.
I will say that I have my favorite shops:
WW Sativa for the Honey Morroc(sp?)which I buy 10 grams at a time.Truly the best hash I've had on a consistant basis.The Red Leb was excellent and I was glad to find some again after a long dry spell in Holland.Nol was there walking around the shop,nice guy.
Tw.Kamer for the Acap.Gold Haze and NYCD.
Amnesia for their Star Trek waterhash and milkshakes(yum)
And Barney's for the best breakfast in a coffeeshop in town.I read complants about this place but the staff are always great to me and I love and appriciate them as well,but im a reg for 7 years now so that may be a factor
.Onto observations and tales.
Great weather,really beautiful and warm that entire weekend.
Wow,its always a different crowd depending on time of year you go.This time I never saw so many seniors from all over Europe and mid-western american types.It was like the entire state of Kansas was in town!
I was in line at Dampkring and this guy taps me on the back and says 'how much is a gram?'
I turn and bugger me if it was'nt Karl Rove's twin brother!This immediately blew my buzz so for the rest of the trip I refered to these types as buzz killers as in 'this place is full of buzz killers,lets bail!'
Anyway I was'nt sure if he ment how much($) or how much in terms of amount.Since I was in no mood to give a metric lesson to Karl I said just buy a pre-rolled and gave him my back because this, IMHO, is the type of guy who will go back home to the US and vote against any medical MJ ballot regardless of how well we stoners try to enlighten him,nor give a man of color such as myself the time of day back home.I maybe wrong, but I dont think so.
Not catching the clue he continued to pepper me with variations of the same question until the budtender who knows me well,and seeing my displeasure, began to explain what was what.I remember when he saw the gram of Haze I got he exclaimed'thats a gram!?'
Was he suprised at how much it was or how little...dunno,me and my girl got to steppin'.Dampkring has become good just for cop and blow as of late since the whole Oceans 11 thing.
Another funny experiance happened on the 2nd floor of Pink Floyd which Tony from the Dampkring recently took over.Last time I was there the weed was crap and gave me a headache so I steered clear.Now the menu is the same as all of Tony's spots so no worries.
Anyway,I was on the 2nd floor with my girl when all these British youths came up and sat down. I guess they got an eye full seeing me with my asian wife and they didnt say a word.My wife said they seem facinated with watching me roll up a J that consisted of the last of some NYCD and some just purchased Riffman Noor.
I noticed the silence as well so to break the ice I said to the bloke closest to me 'This is really good hash give it a try' as I tossed the rest of the hash I had not used,about a gram,over to him.Boy did he smile!'I will,I will' he said and it was a good party from then on.Its my ritual to pass on all unused gear on my last day in town to some arbitary couple or group,just good karma I think.Try it sometime.
Oh yeah, I was in the Tw Kamer on 4/20 at 4:20, pretty gone in a pleasant way when this guy sitting alone shouted Happy 4/20! Man I was so stoned I thought that he was just saying it in general until I realized that I was so gone I forgot about the whole 4:20 thing and it was 4:21!Funny stuff.
