A city in Ontario - Canada

Post by bagua.taiji »

Hi Folks,
My first trip to Amsterdam was a pitifully short overnight trip - and I've been jonesing to get back ever since that trip last year.

I'll be there again, maybe solo, in early October (9->12) to enjoy the city.
And one of my first stops will be Rokerij IV on Elandsgracht - it was an awesome place with a great vibe that a couple of locals steered me to last time.

Bit about myself: I'm 38 and love the vibe in Amsterdam. Even though where I am in Canada is a good place, it's *just not the same*. And being from NYC originally, I miss the BIG CITY feel. For work I am a software developer, and for fun I'm currently raising my kid, living my life, training Chinese MA, and getting out for some canoeing and backpacking trips.

Later all,
Bagua

Thanks for the warm welcome!

Looking at places to stay right now. and for the budget minded, The Bulldog looks pretty good.

Breakfast at Barney's day one... from there the clouds will help decide.

Later all,

Welcome to the forum, I use and recommend http://www.winston.nl/hotel/index.html It's a very stylish spot for the money, great bar, nice staff. The street it's on can be a bit crazy, it's on the edge of the red light district. Basic but comfortable. Book well in advance, it's very popular.

This is one of the dorm rooms, but there's private rooms too.

Thanks for the tip. If I can't book the Bulldog, I'll check out the Winston and Greenhouse Experience.

I'm psyched! An old and close buddy will probably join me for the trip - I couldn't ask for more!

Hi Folks,
It's all set.

I'm booked at the Bulldog Hotel for October 9 -> 13. And even better is that my close old buddy is joining me for the trip. How do you spell psyched? :)

One of my first stops will be to the Rokerij (IV probably) for some NL5 haze.

Later,

Good good, glad your all excited :D Having an extra friend will be a big bonus :D. A point to note however, is the rooms at the Bulldog are non-smoking. They do however offer a roof terrace and hotel guest bar/reception area where smoking is permitted. So smoke before bed, not in bed :D
