True, they were under construction, probably due to the smoking ban?

I can only tell you how it was in May.

Anyone who's been before will know that it was a spacious shop. However on my last visit only the front section of the store was open, selling weed and drinks. they has a few chairs out front but mainly it was closed for refurbishment with takeaway weed being sold. You were welcome to smoke a J out front, but had to roll inside

Christ! I can't believe it, I completely forgot it had another section. When I went there after moving here a month ago I thought to myself that I remembered it looking it different, I hadn't been there in 6 months or so but just thought I must have got mixed up.

moronic.

That back section has been closed for a good while now, hurry up!

Amnesia disappears up its own arse

Post by Themindwanders »

It has re-opened now so i'm sure you are all wondering what has been done to it. I was hoping that there would have been somewhere to smoke tobacco but there isn't, it is just simply a refurb.

Anyone been in Barney's Uptown? Amnesia now looks exactly like that inside. Slick, trendy, black chic - which seems to be all the rage. It does look nice and everything but the whole look is a bit generic really, its so in fashion so it is a shame that there was no imagination put into it really. The best places look a little different- look at Dampkring or even somewhere like Route 99 both have great decor. Amnesia looks like a cafe bar now and is trying to look classy- i.e. Amnesia is up its own arse.

Don't get me wrong I have always liked the place, it was even my favourite place but I can't say that now. It is a great place to hang out BUT...

-For all intents and purposes Amnesia is now a Barney's. It goes under a different name and the menu differs slightly but trust me, it is a Barney's at heart. By this I mean that although it is a nice place to hang out it is pretty commercial, also despite the fact that their weed is high quality, they do have some nice smokes- the entire menu is over-priced, very much so. For the last few weeks I have been sticking to dampkring to save money which really made their prices stand out when I went to Amnesia last night- drinks n cakes etc are very fair prices, weed is over priced and I won't buy from here anymore.

They have a coupla new strains. I bought some Chocolope Haze after being cajoled by the budtender slightly. It is very, very nice to smoke- nice taste, texture and pretty nice effects- good weed. 14 euros a gram though and my original plan had been to buy 2 grams of whit russian from Dampkring which would've been a killer deal for about 15 euros for weed I really liked- should've stuck with that really because buying weed at Amnesia will clear me out and fast! The deal really didn't seem great - as I said nice weed but simply over priced.

They have the tobacco substitute in bowls (same stuff as Barneys). Gotta say I think the staff are great and very friendly, quality weed and good menu of reasonably priced drinks and it also a great hang out BUT it is kinda turning into a Barney's, the decor is nice but a bit too generic and up its own arse for me. I don't think I will be in there too much any more which is a shame, it has always been my favourite place but I can't afford it to be anymore.

Kind of a shame as the decor was one thing that I used to attract me to the old Amnesia (certainly wasn't the cheapness of the weed!). But I will refer judgment until I have seen the place myself since the change. Please tell me that they still sell the milkshakes.....!

Appreciate the update anyway. Nice one.

Yeah they have milkshakes and cakes all look very nice and are good value.

Don't get me wrong I still like the place but at the moment i'm living here so day to day it is too expensive for me on the weed front
