Third Trip to Dam

Greetings, I'm off to Amsterdam again for a brief visit from Aug 6 - 11 staying at the Winston. I'm going with a mate who's not much of a toker (he preffers his beers) but does like a good smoke every now and then.

So far I've sniffed out Dampkring, Stix, Dolphins, La Tertulia, Grey Area and Bulldog Palace. Been impressed with all of them so far apart from Bulldog which was all a bit too neon for my liking.

So anyway, any recomendations for good chilled places where you can people watch all day. I'm a big fan of Sativa during the day and a hefty Indica to knock me out at night (I'm a chronic insomniac, who uses the chronic). Plus some crazy flavoured weed or giggly highs would be fun.

Also anything quite weak that's still a nice smoke/cheap for my mate as I doubt he'd handle anything liek NYC Diesel from the Dampkring (had me talking to the ducks on Vondellpark for a few hours that one).

I'm a big hasj fan, though not fond of the ice prices, so any recommendations there would be welcome. All the stuff around here (Northwest UK) is soapbar so it's nice to have a wide variety of stuff on offer.

Good bars, clubs and beers around Centrum would be nice too. If anyone wants to meet up for a jazz ciggarette or three then that'd be swish.

Try Rusland its not far from the rld its on a street called rusland nice chilled place, try their super polm a smoke you and your mate will enjoy.

Check out the NooN - they have some great blueberry.

and for hash - at the stix they have some great hashes... but some of my favs are nepalese temple ball, caramello cream, charas, and i tend to like most moroccan hashes, cause they are a little less burnout and i find u can smoke em all day.. i have even noticed them take me out of the spins when i have drinkin a bit too much.. lol

anyway, have a great trip!! and let us know of some of the bars that are nice and allow u to smoke the herbals in , as im sure u will be on the hunt for those.

Cheers for the help so far people, much appreciated. Rest assured I'll write a long and detailed (if the old short term memory is working) trip report.

Forgot to say we're major pool addicts, though Prix D'ami looks like it'll take care of that . Also I heard BZP is illegal in the Netherlands, anyone have any suggestions for legal highs available in headshops that'll keep us going all day despite the smokes?

Don't know if you can get it in any of the dam Headshops, but if you can find some Spice, that should keep the fires burning...

Get yourself up to cafe Dread Rock in the RLD for the pool action. It was a coffeshop/bar before but I wouldn't be surprised if its just a smoker friendly bar now. Got the most amazing american pool tables upstairs, best in dam IMO. Its just round the corner from the Old Church, just at the start of the RLD.

The North West loves its soap!! Got a mate in Runcorn (I'm from Wigan originally) who won't buy weed unless its soapbar!!

You owe it to yourself to visit one of my faves, Hunters Bar back down Warmoesstraat from your hotel. I think you should stop in there on the way to your hotel. You can't miss with Dampkring and I second The Noon, if only to stop in and get some Blueberry. Finally catch the tram out to Albert Cuyp market and check out KATSU (good maps & directions on this site).

Aye, I've heard a few good words about Hunters.

Anyone any idea where I might be able to get my hands on some Lemon Stinky, White Russian, or White Rhino? Heard good things about them but never been lucky enough to sample any.

Trying to get some tollerance up so we can make the most of the smokes on offer when we get there. Got some G-13 Haze at the moment which is pretty mindblowing stuff, bit rough on the old throat though.

So far the plan is:

Mon - Arrive in Amsterdam, quickly got to hotel and see if we can leave bags there while we go for a wander, visit a couple of coffeeshops (Hunters, Dampkring and Dolphin) to stock up and kill time before we can check-in properly.

Tues - Head to Amnesia and possibly Grey Area wasn't majorly impressed with it last time I went, lovely people and decent gear but it's a bit of a trek to go on when I can get better stuff back home, I was expected to be amazed but came back just very impressed - though admitedley I'd smoked two grams of Riffman Noor from Dampkring the night before which was an absolutely amazing smoke. When you hear so many good words about a place and it's great but not as amazing as you thought it'd be then it's hard not to be a tad dissapointed.

Wed - Hit Artis Zoo, go to Trefpunt, go to a Vondelpark for a spot of frisbee if the weather's nice. If not, The Noon and Katsu will make up for it.

Thurs - Possible mushroom experience. I'm experienced, mate isn't. Have to see what the set and setting is like really, no point spoiling a holiday by having your mind set on things too firmly. If not, a trip to Haarlem should be fun.

Fri - Visit a few bars, coffeeshops and parks and play some pool.

Though the best plaid plans are always best left unplanned.

I'll see you there, I'll be the one looking a bit deshevelled and ill. My body's decided to give me a stomach bug and fever this week, the cheeky get. Means more smoke, less beer though
