My New Girls

Post by AzLaker »

Starting a new grow before it gets too darn HOT    in beautiful Arizona.

Took the three girls, Wedding Cake, Runtz Punch & Zkittles, and transplanted into my DWC buckets.

A lite mixture of Cal Mg, along with a lite mixture of Advanced Nutrients Ph Perfect for 3 1/2 gallons. Love this stuff,

definitely keeps things in the KISS mode.

Sweet looking grow. "Succes" as they say here.

On a sour note, I found a Colorado beetle on my spuds at the allotment yesterday. Buying nematodes today...

Thanks Rob. I'm always trying to get a little better each grow, but still incorporate the K.I.S.S. method. :)

420magazine.com has a boat load of information on growing cannabis. Some very good growers on this website.

I hope your infestation is small. Best of luck eradicating them little buggers.

As always, a shout out to Sally. :D

Thanks Hobie. I'm going to do my darnest to keep a grow journal on here, updating every so

often with pics and a small write up. Should be fun.  Stay tuned.

Here's my set up that I've used for the last few years. Super easy if you don't mind tending your garden quite a bit. :) First a

4 x 4 x 7 ft. grow tent. My growing method is DWC. 5-gallon buckets (I'm using 3 at the moment), with a 6inch net pot to hold

the clay pebbles, that hold the seedlings. Piston driven air pump that feeds the 4inch air stones in each bucket. Need lots of

air. Lights, 2–150-watt Mars Hydro lights & 1-120watt Vipa spectra light. I also have 2-6inch air fans in the tent and 1-12inch

fan outside the tent. Good air flow is a must.

For water, I use R/O water. And because of that, I put Cal Mag in the water to replace what the R/O takes out. Nutrient's are

Advanced Perfect. Easy to use, Ph stays in the Hydro range, so a big plus. Change and clean every 7 to 10 days...for me,

every 7 days. 4 weeks veg. and with this group, 7 weeks flower. That's about it, more to follow. :)

And watch them grow!!

Weekend update. Not too much happening the last couple of days. The Runtz Punch & the Wedding Cake stretched out a

little, so I moved the lights down from 3 feet to 2 feet, and increased the light wattage to 75%. :)

Brought out the humidifier and had it running the last couple of days. Humidity is hovering at 50%, so need to bring it up

a little around high 50's, low 60's. Temps. still staying at 80 degrees, given I run the A/C in the house at 78 degrees. It's all

good. Here's a couple of pics.

Have a great weekend ACD'ers.

Well, it's been a week since my last update. The girls are doing really well. The wedding cake is a little slow in growth

compared to the Runtz Punch & Zkittles but it's showing signs of catching up. Had to move the lights up a bit, got a little

burn on the Runtz Punch but nothing major.

Starting to heat here up in Arizona, highs this week should be around 104-106. That's O.K. with me, we're taking off

for a few days and heading up to the White Mountains to get out of the heat and do some fishing. Temps. should be around

70 degrees. :D Everyone have a fantastic week.

Just got back from a mini vacation with the Wifey, mom and the dogs. Headed up to Greer, Az., where we rented a nice cabin
to accommodate all of us for a few days and get out of the HEAT. Beers, muffins, and BlueBerry Hill bong hits kept me and the misses happy. Plus fishing everyday was the best. Did I say the BEST....I caught 16 rainbow trout in 2 days. :D Kept 3 for dinner one night, the rest, I caught and released. Here's a couple of pictures.

Now back home and the girls are looking very nice. Trimmed some bottom leaves on the Runtz Punch & the Zkittles. Also topped all three. Normally when you top the plant, you get 2 branches spout up. When I went to top the Wedding Cake, it has
3 branches that will spout. Take a look. It's the bottom pic. :) First pic is Zkittlez...2nd is Back left, Runtz Punch, back right, Wedding Cake, and up front Zkittles. 3rd pic is the Wedding Cake. See the 3 branches ?
Everyone have a great weekend. Will update next week.

Here's a quick update on the girls. All 3 look good, but the Runtz Punch is a work in progress. Having a calcium and or magnesium problem at the moment. Changed nutes, added some extra cal/mag. I'll give it a couple of days to see if there's any improvement.
The Wedding Cake with its 3 new branches after topping is nice and a healthy green. The Zkittles is short and squatty with fat leaves and definitely leaning more towards the indica side.
First picture, Zkittles. Second, Runtz Punch. And the third pic., is Wedding Cake.
Another 10 days before I flip to 12/12.
Eveyone have a fantastic weekend.

Happy Canadian Day to our friends up north & Happy 4th of July weekend to our friends here in the USA.
A quick update on the girls. I've been nurturing my Runtz Punch the last couple of weeks due which I think was a cal/mag
deficiency. Checked all the boxes to make sure nothing was out of whack, but the girl was going down hill. :( So,instead of trying to keep her going, I decided to cut her down and will concentrate on the Wedding Cake and the Zkittles for the remainder of the grow. Will try the Runtz Punch again in the future. One more week in veg., and will flip to 12/12.

Good morning/afternoon ACD'ers on this warm (110 deg.) day. Just a quick update on the girls. Today is the day I flip over to 12/12. The girls have been veggie for a little over 4 weeks. :D Changed the nutes & added Bud Candy, plus Sensizym. Trimmed a few bottom leaves/branches that don't get too much light. I'll trim up a few more leaves/branches next week after the girls have transitioned better into the 12/12 cycle.
Here's a couple of pics. Hope everyone has a chilled weekend.

Yes, I use Big Bud & Bud Candy during the flowering stage. I agree, their Ph perfect is really nice, but I will check my Ph every once in a while, just to make sure everything is running smoothly and all nutes are being absorbed properly.
I've been running DWC for over 15 years now. :D Don't think I'll ever return to soil.
These seeds are from @HerbiesSeeds.com Their BlueBerry Hill & Dos Si Dos #33 that I just finished growing are super nice. Good taste and a really nice high.

Nothing really new since my last update. Trimmed up some bottom leaves right after flipping over to 12/12. The Wedding Cake 🎂 is catching up in height with the Zkittles.
Added Bud Candy & Sensizym to the mix to help in the process of flowering. Still waiting for female pistols to show. Should be any day now. Here's a coupleof pics.
1st is Wedding Cake, 2nd is Zkittles, 3rd is Wedding Cake on the left, Zkittles on the right.
Stay cool everyone. They say we're in an excessive heat wave...hell we live in the desert. It's supposed to get hot here in the summer, what else is new!!
