I am a smoker and somewhat of a purist so I cannot answer my wife's question on space cake or brownies...she has finally agreed to try them and has asked me their effects....can anyone enlighten us? Thanks!

Depends really, mostly on where you get them.

My girl's the same, she's an eater rather than a smoker... eating it can kick the shit right out of you, if it's a decent cake. It can be alot stronger and more intense than smoking.

If you want cake with a good amount in it, we've found Greenhouse Effect and Hill Street Blues, both in the red light, accross the road from each other, to have the most potent cake tried so far...

Best to just eat half and wait a bit, see how it goes down.

Enjoy :D

Thanks...she is worried that she will get sick and not be able to control it...is it better than being tipsy or drunk...and can she "get straight" like we can if we have to?

I couldn't possibly comment, it really depends on the person.

Has she ever been stoned before? If not, I'd say just take a quarter of a cake and if she's comfortable take another quarter... take it slow and remember it can take an hour or more sometimes depending on how fast you're digesting it, ie on a full stomach it should take longer to work as your stomach is busy digesting the food you've just eaten.

It's very different to being drunk or tipsy, it's just like being very stoned so I'm sure you can relate your own experience of being stoned to her.

Ive seen 2 different kinds of cake in amsterdam...the chocolate brownie cake. and the golden pound cake...When Ive eaten the brownie type nothing hapens but with the other it works greatly...In march i was sampling cakes..None worked till I had some from the Soft Temple on one of the side streets off of damrak...It was a saturday afternoon back in march.I went right to sleep till later that night, knocked me out..

Havent eaten any since that, more of a smoker.

Id like to hear more cake stories and recommendations, especially to hear if any place has good cake of the chocolate brownie type...

Havent tried Dolphins yet.maybe next time.

IMO the edibles are usually either really strong or nothing at all. Not really the best choice for a newbie. Perhaps if she is not a smoker hitting one of the volcano or verdamper vaporizers will be a good choice. That way you can start her off with a weed you are familiar with. If space cake is the only way, then I recommend one from the Basjoe. They also make space smoothies. If she wants something stronger perhaps some of the other suggestions or bushdoctor. Have fun and yeah take it slow. If you are eager to try making your own edibles I recommend making your own shakes. Just take 1/3-1/2g of your favorite hash, some cooking oil and a big spoon. You heat the oil in the spoon over the stove and then drop the hash in it. it dissolves and you pour it all into your shake or yogurt. Voila! We made shakes from Barney Rubble the first time I came to Amsterdam and it was a mindblowing high. Expensive, but outstanding.

Don't forget about bon bons. They are the only edible I've eaten in the Dam. They knocked me out.

Space cakes and black coffee from Prix D'ami was our usual breakfast last trip. Much better than the "continental breakfast" at the hotel.

Thought they weren't allowed to do that anymore? Just about every shop I've been into both back in March and last week said no and that they weren't allowed to sell them :?

oh, that could be. I haven't purchased one in a long time. I make my own usually. I will check when I can.

I have always had better luck working with hasj over weed with cooking. Where were the bon bons available again?

When it comes to cooking, I've found green has a much nicer taste and makes for a lighter consistency when making cake. For shakes though, hash would just clog the blender through time.

I'm sure it was Hill Street Blues at the red light she got them, but they weren't what I'd call bon bons, more like chocolate drops... bon bons here are different anyways...

Well when I make the shakes, I add the hot oil with the hash already dissolved into the already mixed shake and just sorta spoon stir it. No need to clog the blender ;) I have just had wild variations in potency using grass where with hash you can get a pretty consistent serving. But, I am eager to try it out again sometime soon. Maybe I will have better luck this time.
