I generally go for the smell, my taste buds arent that clever anymore. Its like buyin vegetables. If they look good, and smell fresh on first impressions than buy it.

The type of buzz.
The best gear for me is like a big Italian dinner. Taste great and leaves you feeling satisfied, mellow, contented.
Or like a high school guy who just asked out prettiest girl in school and she said yes. Soaring happiness, top of the world euphoria.
Or etc., etc. you get the idea.

Smell and price. I tend to go for stuff that's the 3rd or 4th most expensive, that way you're going to get some top quality stuff but not going to be paying through the nose for it. Though variety of tastes and effects does sway me a lot.

I usually follow the Hype.
What's supposed to be good invariably is.... and as I'm on holiday and out to enjoy myself price has never once come into the decision whilst in Amsterdam.
Saying that when it comes down to it, if the weed looks scabby then I don't bother..... if the weed looks good but isn't I just take my business elsewhere.
I'm no weed snob.... once I'm stoned or high everything blends into one.... it gets pretty difficult to pick out flavours and buzz types after a couple of hours for me. I can tell Sativa/Indica/Dark hash/Light Hash....... just..... let's face it, lifes to short to be a wine snob about it all....
Just get blitzed..... isn't that why you go there?

"Aye, that sounds good..bring me some of that and a wee bit of the other" The weed fairy is always right.

depends!...........where we are? in uk or the dam? if home then its whatever you get & thats usually very strong but in the dam i find that a hard question.
mmmmmmmm no its not

STRONGER the better, can still function when blootered and thats the way i,ve allways been! not a "lets get high" sorta bloke more of a "lets get wasted" bloke.

Hard question for me to answer, seeing as when i last smoked i'd never noticed different "highs" we just done it to get mashed. But after researching our trip to the dam i've gotta say the uplifting high stuff (sativa's) really sounds interesting. Is it really uplifting?
weed selection criteria

I agree with all of the comments, especially on selecting the right weed for the right activity. The sativas are my favorite as the high seems refreshing and I am able to enjoy being a "pack mule"

I agree that after a few good strains, I cannot tell the differance, except in taste. To me it is the type of high, the smell, and the taste. This last time in A-dam the "Royal Stix" from Stix was my favorite...smooth and very satisfying high. If doing a CS crawl/circuit for a week or more...all of the weeds blend together...so taste, type of high, smoothness, and smell are all your THC soaked mind can determine.

Yes Sativas can be. I really enjoy the high for doing stuff. ie. skateboarding, snowboarding, reading, cycling, and even work

When I want to go out at nite maybe meet up with some friends I like a hybrid with a little sativa in it. If I want to stay on the couch or watch a move or even sit my ass down at a coffeeshop for a long while, I'd go with more indica. If you want a good idea of weeds with their effects check out de Dampkrings menu. Of course, the effects of a hybrid weed can vary from it's heritage. It took me a couple of trips to the dam before I learned or even cared about this stuff. I find it's worth it though. Enjoy.

I wouldnt give that much on the menus and what they are saying. at least this goes for the sativa/indica specification, i have seen many good shops (including very good shops like dampkring and others) that specified different types of weed wrong. of course this only goes for a few types, most of them are specified right, but you shouldnt trust the shops blindly. there are sites like
www.strainbase.de (which is onyl in German, I dont know any English site in that style sorry), which is done by growers and people who are much more into growing than some ordinary dealer in amsterdam

Right, that's why I included the disclaimer "Of course, the effects of a hybrid weed can vary from it's heritage." There is a strain database website out there in English, but it's a little dated.
