Hey, I'm new here. Been reading the boards for a while and I find them incredibly useful. I'm heading to Amsterdam in November and have heard you can get peyote there in smart shops. I was wondering however if these were mature plants and possible of inducing a trip or if you had to tend them for a long while before they could. I would love to try the cactus while there. Anyone know? Thanks.

i wasn't lookin for peyote when i went, but the few that i did see seemed fairly young. I have heard that these young cacti and still useable you just several of them??? i dunno just what i heard.

I've only seen peyote once in Amsterdam and it was years ago. They were getting 15 NLG and recommended 5 for a mild trip. 75 NLG=EUR 35. They were very dried out and hard as a rock- I passed. I've done fresh peyote numerous times and highly recommend it. It'll show you what a real mescaline trip is.

I'd say save your Euros for the great shrooms readily available at smart shops.

Thanks Max. One last question, have any of you tried the peyote? Is it better to do the peyote or shrooms like copelandia? I'm an old acidhead, and since LSD became rare a few years back, I haven't enjoyed myself any. E just doesn't do it, and American shrooms are just ok. So I guess what I'm saying is, if I want a very visual, very acid-like trip (duration and intensity) what would be recommended?

I've gotten the visual, weird, trippy experiences from the Hawaiian shrooms. Amsterdam shrooms are sold by the recommended single dose amounts. The general rule is that a first timer should take half of the rec. single amounts. The single amount gives a decent trip. Two single amounts might be what you're looking for for an intense trip. I WANT TO MAKE THIS CLEAR THOUGH, stoners here who never tripped on LSD in the strengths that were sold before say 1970 or so should be very careful taking 2 single amounts without a non stoned person to help guide them. Two single trip amounts of Hawaiian will pretty much incapacitate anyone- by that I mean it's not an amount that you want to take and go for a walk around the Dam at least for the first say 2-3 hours after ingesting. Again these comments are for trippers who are only used to the LSD dose level in the USA that has been prevelant in the last 10 or 15 years. Now those that survived the dose levels (250 micrograms and up) that were standard in the '60's should be OK with double dosing Amsterdam shroom recommended single dose amounts but the first hour or 2 will be pretty intense. Last time I did 2 amounts in the 'dam alone on the streets I was damn happy that I came upon a movie theater were I could hang out until the ground stopped waving and the canal houses intense fluid color schemes stopped looking like they were gonna crash down on me. The movie screen was so full of flashing and vibrating colors I couldn't tell what movie it was and the English soundtrack sounded more like Klingon- a fun trip indeed. That same night an hour or 3 later I went with an RLD lady for the first time. I had been resisting previously since I thought that they all looked disinterested and mercenary but the shroom trip allowed me to look into their souls and see that some of them were very sweet, real babes. Yow! I'd forgot how intense a psychedelic orgasm was. Yow!
