World War II Resistance Museum

Post by freewheelin frank »

Can someone help me find the World War II Resistance Museum. I have read several forum posts about it but have been unable to find it, even with the help of native Dutch, in and around where it was supposed to be. Any assitance will be appreciated!

Just in case you have not seen these already...

How to get there
By tram from the Amsterdam Central Station take tram 9, or from the Dam square take tram 14. Step out on a stop ‘Plantage Middenlaan/Kerklaan’ or stop ‘ZOO’. Walking from the Waterlooplein - ca. 10 minutes walk.

Verzetsmuseum Plantage Kerklaan 61
1018 CX Amsterdam
Telephone: 31 20 620 25 35
e-mail: info@verzetsmuseum.org

(I just searched Google for 'WWII resistance museum')

Apologies if you already have that.
The map was taken from the Dutch version of their site, over at http://www.verzetsmuseum.org/home.html , as the English version is not fully up and running.

thanks...I have not seen that version...I wandered around that area for a couple of hours last time and finally gave up and found Het Ballonnetje, so not a total loss for the day. I would really like to see the Museum this time.

Just in case you haven't yet checked out the website, you are looking for a building front something like this...

While you're down there, be sure to check out the Wertheim Park (just keep your eyes peeled for it's resident beggar; a lanky, skinny black guy with dreads, always on the scrounge, and VERY in your face), and also a fab restaurant just across the road, De Bombaseur (sp?).

Oh, and De Overkant coffeeshop ;)

i'd highly recommend the museum,it makes you appreciate what the dutch had to endure during ww2,also just around the corner is the
Hollandsche Schouwburg.both locations are on route between De Overkant Hortus and Het Ballonnetje

In January, forgot exactly where, near the RLD, I saw the exhibit "The Bodies"...trying seeing that with super skunk #4 and super pollen (rookies) flowing thru your brain 8) but if you get the chance to see it, do so
