Was supposed to be until Sep 4, but I had to return home due to a death in the family.
Arrived on Thurs at 7:30 AM. Took the train into town and put my luggage into storage at the hotel until I could check in. Walked up to Homegrown Fantasy and got some Amazing Haze (10 Euro/0.8 gm) and a "mild" pre-rolled. Watched the world go by as I smoked the prerolled out front. Ahhhhhh. Put a pinch or two of the AH in a pipe and smoked that, then the world watched me go by for a while. I am such lightweight for smokink yah?
Friday I excursioned out to Mellow Yellow and got some Blue Ice-o-lator (23 Euro/ 1.0 gm), then back via Basjoe and picked up some Jack Herer (8E / 1.0gm) and Diesel (12 E / 1.0 gm). Back to the hotel and a message from my wife telling me her aunt had died. Made plans to return home Sat. The Blue Iceolator sure made it easy not to think about the curtailed trip. Met up with some Brit friends who were in town for dinner and a bud-crawl that went nowhere but had fun getting there.
Saturday I popped over to Rastababy at 9AM and surprised three kids toking on the terrace. Gave them my stash and left the jaw-dropped at their good fortune.
Ah well. Maybe next time will be better. See ya in a few years, Amsterdam.

Forgot to mention the hotel - Multatuli - just a few doors down from Rastababy on Prinz Hendrikkade. Small room, good price for kinda last minute reservation, convenient to drag the suitcase to from the train from Schiphol.
There's a sign on the door to the rooms which says guests are not permitted to bring food and drink into the rooms. (There's a pathetic minibar and also 24 hour room service available, but I had no menu.) I brought all the food I wanted and nobody said a thing. Rooms have AC.
Normally I get an apartment these days as it's usually a better deal and much more room, but Multatuli was adequate for my needs and turned out to be a better choice considering the circumstances. They did not hassle me about cancelling my last three days stay. I've already got the credit on my card (they charged the full 5 days at start and have now refunded three of that). If I'd been in an apartment I'd have just lost out on the unused prepay.
Geoffk & Travelling high - thanks for the kind words.

I shall return
The wife just agreed that our 2008 vacation in Paris would be best accomplished by stopping in Amsterdam for 3 days to de-jetlag and then taking a train to Paris.
I have volunteered to fly in a day ahead of time to take care of the apartment rental (*cough*) and get tickets and generally smooth the process for her. *Ahem* I will do a wonderful job of it.
Gotta find some good, easy, recipes for cooking up that first night. Nice to bring my own homemade space-whatever with me to gay Paree! And plenty of time to research as this will be a Sept 2008 trip.

Good report
23 Euro for 1 gram!? Blows me away, is that Blue Ice-o-later hash worth that price? I tried the king hassam hash at Greenhouse Tolstraat for 15 E for 1 gram and thot that was high. What do people think? What's the best hash for the Euro?
