Smoking Ban 1st July 2008
sadly, after this they will go after the weed smoke too - any
one who does not see the writing on the wall is a
wee bit overly optimistic.
in my clubbing days i had a drink in one hand and a cig
in the other. To me, smelling like alcohol, smoke, perfumes
(and if i was lucky that night - sex) was a smell that i
associated with living the good life at that point in time - i feel
sorry for the young folks that have to abide by all these
asshole rules these days. Bars and nightclubs are not
libraries or knitting clubs and should not be regarded as such.

Religion Race Color Creed... Whatever

Model used here in the USA. As a person in this country who has seen these 'trend laws' erode personal freedoms to the point our behavior is spoon fed to us...
Yeah, next they'll be telling you to curb your CO2 emissions.
That i have no problem with. As it ties in with notions of the industrial and corporate environmental abuse vs. personal choice in a designated adult oriented setting. Different debate, different discourse.

This is how the law works....
Let's say a person needs a job and the only job available to them is working in a coffeeshop/bar, if they're qualified to work there it is discriminatory to force them to passively smoke while working if they're also a non smoker. It only works to say 'They know what they're gettin into' if there are other alternative jobs available they're qualified for or able to do. If not, then they have to be given the job because people need to eat more than people need to smoke.
It still sucks though.

Ask the Dutch and they'll tell you that it's all a bit of a hoo-haa. You'll still be able to smoke in the Coffeeshops, use tobac in a J that is, however why not think about having a neat pipe ? Much better for the lungs and the brain or why not use the grass to make a mix with, much simpler.

Nimbin
Check out Nimbin http://www.nimbinhempbar.com/webcam.html. They found that in the State Law, if you were 'performing' in a play or something then you were allowed to 'smoke' (reality), this is why the cafe in Nimbin still has smokers there as they're only actors in a play.

It looks like coffeeshops will have to set aside smoking areas. At coffeeshop "Yanks" in Zandvoort, for instance, they are planning to allocate the upstairs area for smoking.
I don't smoke cigarettes myself but I'm not happy about the smoking ban here in the UK. Yes, it's nice not to have your clothes smelling of smoke the morning after a visit to the pub but there's not much point in going to the pub now because it's empty.
I live in a rural part of the UK and the smoking ban has had a devastating affect here. My favourite local pub has closed permanently and is for sale because it has no garden. The only pub doing any business has a big tent with heaters in its garden. You walk through an empty pub to find all of the customers out there with coats on huddled under the heaters (it's cold in winter here). The supermarkets are full of cheap booze and the traditional British pub is disappearing. Very sad.

Over 4 pubs a day closed in the UK last year that's 1409, in the two years prior the numbers were 102 and 216 respectively.
Tells a story.
When the going gets weird, the weird get going!
wow DC great news!!!
it is real nice to hear from you!! and you have good news too!
well i wont get to excited until it actually happens, but still something to look forward to..
now the question is.. how will they be able to tell a pure weed joint apart from one mixed with tobacco?? other than ripping it open, but even then if you ground up the tobacco and after smoking some of it the resin would make it hard to even tell after ripping it open.. i dont think it would smell much different unless you used alot of tobacco... lol im high off some kush, and ranting now.. i will stop
cheers

here in germany you are allowed to smoke pot, but not to buy, sell, grow or own it.....how do you smoke pot without owning it? tell me!
this is fucking politics, they cannot decide for one thing, thats why this world is so fucking crazy in my eyes. there have to be made decisions.
this is really getting crazy, if I dont want to be harmed by anything out there I have to live in a bunker. fuck the government. I hate it when people stand next to me in a club/coffeeshop and all the smoke comes into my eyes. but what do i do? do i tell the club-pwner to throw him out? no! i change place or I tell the person to hold his cigarette into another direction. thats how human relationship should work

Ahhhh....I can stop hyperventilating now!! Thought I was going to have to cram a few trips in before the end on June, but hopefully all is grand and peaceful on the horizon.DC wrote:A letter from the Horeca union stated that after July 1st, pure weed joints, bongs, vaporizors and tobbacco substitutes WILL be allowed. Fingers crossed they know what they're talkin about and finally there's atleast a spark of light at the end of the dark tunnel.
I noticed this over the new year, at first I thought is was kinda dumb to be renovating during one of the busiest periods of the year but I guess it makes sense that they do it in time for the ban. Was a shame that our small group couldn't make use of the big table on the 2nd floor though.cantona7 wrote:as of late december pink floyds whole upper floors were being made and renovated
