Currency Exchange Question
I know most people say that the best way to exchange money is to use the ATM's,but I just checked with my bank(chase) and they told me that if I use the atm,it will cost me 3.5% of the withdraw amount plus a $5.00 fee on top of that.Would it be wiser and cheaper to bring cash with me and exchange for euro's at Schiphol Airport?

The airport has horrible exchange rates,I only exchange $20 at the airport if I need money for the train.I take cash and exchange it at Lorentz,I think that what its called. Its right on Damrak, under the Damrak hotel I think. They usually have the best rates,or a place called potts exchange or somthing like that also has good rates.Your always going to pay some kind of fees,a few % usually, anywhere you do it.Some charge a lot more than others though.
to avoid the cost of big-time withdrawal fees, when i went to Europe i got a Travelex Cash Passport--which is sort of like a debit card--you still get charged for withdrawals , can't remember exactly how much but it's less than 5 bucks. When you get it you deposit how much you want in there and choose the base currency of your card(depending on exchange rates at the time, you can work this to your advantage)...Euro's, GBP, and i think US dollar is also a choice, not sure.....you get two cards with different pin numbers so that two people can use the same account or so that if you lose 1 you still have access to your account.......might be worth checking out..
