msl's solo oct trip

Post by mtbskalover »

trip report-age 13,14,15th Oct 07

after working in france and germany for 4 weeks i flew from mulhouse, france to schipol. This was to be my first multi day trip to amsterdam by myself. I'd spent afternoon/days by myself there when i worked for this same company 3 years ago. So a trip without mates...

It was about 5:20pm and i rushed through town to the flying pig downtown hostel.

I checked in and sorted myself out. First stop, baccy and a grinder. I was heading towards grey area, but i was feeling hungry so walked on past to the fast food place on the corner for chips and mayo. Then into a packed grey area for some grey berry, my favourite smoke from february, they only a little left, so i asked for a deal on half a gram of dregs. this would keep me going for long enough due to my low tolerance these days. I asked about the cheese and thought i'd pop back another day for some.

amnesia was also full so i headed into barneys for the first time in a few years. no cheese till Nov. maybe there saving it for the cannabis corrupt? it was fairly busy inside so i popped round to the nearby empty brassiere. Fresh juice, first joint and a read of the local tourist paper.

i'd been on the ill side of health for a few days before and had felt rough at the airport after driving for 4 hours through germany. so being baked, as the first smoke of amsterdam always hits you hard, i went back to the hostel to shower and get my head in a slightly better shape.

shower fixed things a bit.
i've always stayed at the flying pig downtown hostel. its simply great! they gave me 3 free drink tokens. so i sank a beer then headed out into the evening air. homegrown fantasy first. no shiva, i love the taste of that stuff. So as i did for every coffeeshop. i bought a looza juice, rolled joint and read a mountain bike magazine and generally enjoyed the chilled atmospheres. abraxas next, busy, but still a good atmosphere. from here i wonder via febo, to de kuil. I talk to some UK locals who had been to see england win at rugby. wow. anther j of greay berry. its good stuff. just high enough, with a little body stone.

sunday dawned and part of my mission of being here by myself was to do stuff i have not had a chance to do when with groups of stoners.
1. Van Gogh museum.

i couldnt go straight there tho. first stop The Coin for some lavender. not quite as lavender smelling as previous versions ive had. but quite relaxing smoke. oh and the coin/hunters rock solid signature buds. After hearing great things about barney's lounge on the dopecast i thought i'd check it out. Well what a find it is. Simply check it out. Its in a nice quiet neighbour hood, which i love cos of the relaxing walk. I do love the dutch architecture and canal system. Back to barney's. Great comfy shops and for you volcano fans, they have at least 2 there for you to use. I wondered from here to the Van Gogh. I studied product design at uni so there is an arty side to me so it was interesting to see his development from traditional style paintings through to his exploration of modern styles. on the 3rd floor theres was also an show of japenese flick books which featured great black pen drawings.

From here i thought i'd check out club media as MHD on channels had said it was good. First off my first Maoz fallafal. i love meat, but this was yum! Club medias menu features the typical names, but the menu is all 100% organic. for hash fans its looks great too. i bought some diesel which smelt lemony, fairly well cured, and gave a up high. the coffeeshop is nice and clean and the locals seem fairly enough, as was the dealer. i watched some blood sweat and rigs on discovery whilst enjoying the diesel. hehe, good stuff.

time to hit the road, i was gona go check out la tertulia, but felt i outght to get to grey area before the best of the days products sold out. i walked along various canels, over major streets, tryng to keep to the quiter areas and, half an hour later found grey area. I only took one or two wrong turns so was quite impressed. the new young guy behind the bar said the chocolope was in good shape so i got 5 grams. damn expensive though so i could only afford 5euros worth of cheese. which as it turns out was probably for the best as i could have smoked that stuff forever. the chocolope was to take home as gifts for friends, rock solid stinky buds! the smoked a small joint of cheese, chatted with some fellow young uk stoners and then walked back to the hostel to relax in their lovely downstairs.

i smoked a few j's, read, watched, tv, chatted to others, showered, drank a free beer then when out to homegrown fantasy. repeat usual routine. then i went to amneisa, via the little red light district. its always fun to smile at the girls and then ignore their pleas to get you to come in.

same old routine, but i chat a little with the nice aussie girl. cute or what? i get a text from Max_Freakout saying he's back in town so we arrange to meet at abraxas.
smoke and chat with the man that is Max_Freakout from the dopefiend network. good times talknig about drug related stuff, a thing i hadnt been able to do for several weeks whilst working. we say our good bye's and head our seperate ways. mine being a joint in the hostel and bed.

monday-
goal number 2) the artis zoo

as always i couldnt go straight there, i went for a j and juice in central CS which has become a little fav. locals come in and out for bags o' green and tourists sit and drink coffee.
next stop shrooms for my bro. 20g haiwans.
walk to the zoo via a random route to see different parts of the city.

2 years ago whilst visiting a friend in melbourne he suggested we go the zoo. me and bro thought it sounded lame, but had nothing better to do that afternoon. what a great laugh we had.

the zoo was worth a visit, it'd be better with someone else, but its a good place to waste some time.

i walked to bluebird, a CS i hadnt been in for many years. still the same, nice and comfy upstairs. busy, but worth checking out. menu is large, but on the expensive side tho, not that i bought anything. cheese all the way!

it may only be big buddhas cheese, not the real UK cheese, i'll get hold of that one day. but its superb stuff! just right in everyway, and man does it smell of something wrong, possibly stinky cheese.

i hadn't yet walked through the red light district. i hate it at night with all the drug pushers and rowdy english. i wondered around looking at the girls, smiling and being lured in, then i found refuge at the cannabis college. they were doing up the grow area, but i still had a nice chat with the gardener.

more wondering the RLD. i came very close to go to a cash point... at one point i wondered up one of those dead end streets. there was an older woman in one doorway and as i walked back down she grabbed my hoody and said come in. i was like, 'no no' "can i tell you, your very nice?" 'thanks i said, but i have no money ive spent it' "surely you have 50?" ' no nothing, i'll come back next year and see you' we siad goodbye and she let go of my hoody. time to smoke. but i was still feeling naughty so decided i'd go to amnesia so i can walk though the smaller RLD.

amnesia, same old routine,
dna grow shop and get to speak to don or aron, sorry i dont no which is which.
damprking grow shop for info on nutrients,
then to pink floyd, or as it is now, de dampkring. smoke my last joint of cheese upstairs, read various leaflets ive just picked up and laugh at the loud dutch woman who sounds kinda irish working at the bar. if your hungry and want to smoke, go here! great looking food menu, plus de dampkrings usual fair quality smoke. if i had more time in the dam, i'd have got some of thier 6euro a gram bubblegum. 6euro!!

time to head home!
wrap up shrooms and stinky chocolop in stinky work socks and check in.
get picked up by my bro and am greated with a nice bag untouched on the carasel.

summary-
cheese was superb! simple as!
grey area tops as always, tho often to full to sit down.
looza juices are great, as is Maoz food, febo and frites/mayo.
the shops away from the centruum are well worth visiting.
as is van gogh museum and the artis zoo.

badfrog,
the bubblegum can't be that bad from de dampkring, they usually dont stock poor quality gear

neldo,
im not really a haze fan, but i did hear someone ask for it only to be told it had sold out. so its obviously popular stuff. fingers crossed for ya! they are usually helpful in there, if theres not something on their small menu to suite yo they may point you in a good direction of another CS. there 'gunpowder' loose trichomes did look potent!

bernum,
thanks for looking in!

u-roy,
yeah chocolope was around when i was there. though it had sold out saturday, but they had re-stocked by sunday afternoon. choco-crack as as i heard an american customer call. yeah unfortunatly its 13.50, a rip-off i no, but if its a good batch, then you cant complain too much cos its gona be some of the best smoke in mokum!

I wasn't much of a haze fan either, until I tried that stuff

It changed my mind on Sativas completely, i'm much more of an indica fan but that stuff is really, really potent, something I don't normally find sativas to be, I find them quite weak but then I'm looking for a knock-you-out-stoned which sativas aren't gonna provide so I guess that's probably why I always found sativas to be quite tame... when you say gunpowder? do you mean the dutch ice? I bought a gram on my last trip from there, but i can't remember if it was any good, I was a bit drunk

I tried the Amzing haze from WW Indica and got a good tap... (more like a bitch-slap actually).
