Maybe they sell beer to me because they know me? Ever think of that? Discretionary sales?

I was there last week, I think I ought to know what I bought and what I didn't :? Next you'll be telling me they don't sell hashish....

It's you who needs to get a grip, kidder; accusing people on websites of lying, have you heard yourself?
Saying that you can still buy beer in an Amsterdam coffeeshop is like saying you can buy marijuana at a health food store in America if you buy a hemp candy bar.

Several coffeeshops do still sell beer. But all beer now sold in any coffeeshop in the Netherlands is non-alcoholic. Not even what we used to call near beer. This most definitely includes the Basjoe Coffeeshop.

There is no alcohol served at any coffeeshop in the Netherlands. Maybe next door but always in separate rooms.
That's just rubbish..... truly.

Also, for the anti alcohol brigade that's just reared it's head.... who the hell are you to tell others what's right and wrong? I like a drink with my smoke.... I'll be damned if I'm gonna give that up just because of somebody else's self absorbed opinion.

Intolerence takes many forms.... that sort of holier than though form is by far the worst!

"My vice is best because it works for me, the rest of you have no idea!" Well done sherlock! How fuckin long did it take you to come up with that ethos? Amsterdam sure isn't the place for you buddy, Holland is all about tolerance.... I'd be surprised if you didn't have a shaved head and Nazi memorablia in your attic.......

man, the only thing I said was, I dont think both should be sold at the same place. I have nothing against people buying their weed, going to a pub and having a beer with a spliff. its just that i think that drugs should be sold seperated from each other, and by alcohol I usually mean hard alcohol like vodka/whisky and so on, beer is not that bad in my opinion. I would never tell someone else what to do and to think, and I think you cant misunderstand that from my previous post since I mentioned there that it is MY opinion, not THE opinion, just my ;)

I did and I just reread it to make no mistake but I dont see anything wrong about it. well ok, maybe I dont "fully" agree, because I would say selling beer and weed together is ok, but I agree that hard alcohol shouldnt be sold in CS and that alcohol is a dangerous drug....dont take it as an offence, I think that every human should do what he wants as long as it doesnt effect anyone else, I just dont see a reason why you would want to drink alcohol in a coffeeshop.....but that goes just for me, not for everyone else :)

Hi DrGonzo
What's Your problem with my posting?I only said what i think about it and i have seen too many good people, friends and family, going down on Alcohol so i think it's a hard Drug like Heroin and Cocaine,in some ways it's worse than H and C.I really don't have a problem with anyone who wants to drink some beer and smoke a Joint but where's the problem in doing it in the Bar next Door?I could'nt stay in a Coffeeshop if it was filled with drunk people because Marihuana and Alcohol are drugs that go into totally different directions, even when i was drinking(i quit it 5 years ago)i didn't mix it both together.By the way,i think there are many more Alc Bars where you are not allowed to smoke than Coffeeshops you're not allowed to drink. In fact there is a place for everyone and thats more than you can say about other Countrys. Is it really so bad that you can't get everything at every place? You know what i mean... 8)

That's not technically what you said in your original post.

For the record, Alcohol is not a "Hard Drug".... not in Dutch law, which is the country in question here.

Like I said, the Netherlands is all about Tolerence, a trait you seemingly know nothing about.

One of the main reasons given for banning alcohol from coffeeshops in Amsterdam was to separate the soft drugs (marijuana) from the hard drugs (alcohol). So I do believe that the Dutch as well as most of the rest of the world consider alcohol a hard drug. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hard_and_soft_drugs

Netherlands used to be a lot more about tolerance but not as much over the last 10-20 years. Many reasons but as usual religion is a main factor.

Oh well argued man.... a wiki article! And that was repesentative of Dutch law how?

And if you think that law was passed to speperate hard and soft drugs you're more deluded than the rest.... it was passed to apply more pressure to an already under pressure coffeeshop industry.

Seriously though, thanks for the laugh.....

Which rockerij? I haven't read all the posts but I would be happy to go find out if they do sell beer. Shit I will even drink one and smoke a bowl and write all about it. I am not personally aware of any coffeeshops that officially sell beer (loophole or not). There are still plenty of good smoker friendly bars. One of which I just found out was 420 friendly is a belgian beer specialist right off the kalverstraat. bonus!
